9-3 and they kick him to the curb? I hope the next coach they hire goes 4-8 his first season. Would serve ‘em right.

9-3. At Okstate he would get an extension and have the highest pay in the Little 12.

Auburn needs to sack their defense coach after yesterday’s performance, IMHO. Guy has ‘issues’.

Can somebody write the lyrics to fit from that song/parody:

Musical coaches. I admit whenever I watch a game I try to pick the “doomed” coaches using their demeanor as they lose.

UGA fans are the most delusional I’ve ever encountered, certain that every national championship is theirs for merely walking onto the field. Now they have chased off the best football coach they ever had, and the finest man and shaper of young men blessed to play for him. None of the yahoos who chased him off are at the very peaks of their own professions, but they are only satisfied when their Dawgs are at the very top. How hypocritical, and how shallow. Those bitter losers will never be satisfied, and will turn on the next coach in time. Mark Richt deserves better, and some school is going to hire a real gem.

Wow - he’s got a great record. Hard to compete in the SEC and he’s done a bang up job. SC, GA, Misery will have new coaches in the SEC East next season.

Was this firing Uga-approved?

Sounds like Bulldog fans can’t come to grips with the fact that Herschel Walker wasn’t typical of the Georgia High School running backs.

“Georgia now enters a crowded coaching market with few high-level candidates. One would have to believe it at least had some feelers before putting Richt out, otherwise this would be an epically stupid move.”

Thank God he had a winning record. No telling what they would have done if he had a losing record!

UGA has a football team?
I thought it was just a little Ag college in Athens.
Learn something new!
(I think the problem was that they only JUST beat Georgia Southern.)

I HATE this.
Coach Richt is a great man and we had a really good recruiting class lined up, new facilities coming on line and a D that was getting stronger and stronger.
Our opponents are overjoyed.

Coming from a Ga Tech grad, Mark Richt is a class act. He is a man of great integrity and a strong Christian. Regardless of is record, he did what was most important - making a kingdom impact on young men.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you,

College football has changed, evolved if you wish to see it that way. Is evolving, whatever. I have noticed something I will label as the “Paterno effect”. It seems to me that a coach who does not seek new and innovative defenses/offenses, or does not recognize that such things are needed has not only stayed too long, but is stale. Note that Nick Sabin has not remained stale, and is a winner, but that is currently an exception to a rule. No longer in the era of college football play offs can a guy coach for 15-20 years unless he innovates and keeps current. Gone are the days of "3 yards and a cloud of dust". Even with such innovation, 10 years should be the max a coach should stay at one job.
