“It is my view that Cruz needs to get this out of the way with SCOTUS as soon as possible.”

Please tell us the pathway by which this would be considered by the SCOTUS? Do you also think that the SCOTUS can just pull up things they want to rule on?

The issue is bringing out IDIOTS who DO NOT KNOW the Constitution of the United States AND ITS AMENDMENTS ;
or either do NOT think that the AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION are just as GERMANE as the rest of the Constitution !

No it is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT !
I repost PROOF for those you have INTENTIONALLY CONFUSED .
FACT: Cruz’s father’s Cuban nationality at the time of Cruz’s birth, is irrelevant, according to the law at that time,
just so long as he was a LEGAL Immigrant at the time of Ted Cruz's birth,
AND both of Ted Cruz's parents were legally married to each other. So there is the law for the time Ted Cruz was born,
AND HOW Ted Cruz's PARENTS fulfilled ALL those requirements of the law that time, for Ted Cruz to be a "Natural Born Citizen".
Ted Cruz did NOT NEED a Court and a Judge to "Nationalize" him.

Link? Two citizen parents does not apply?

The Courts need to rule on it.

I would prefer that Congress do the clarifying.

I would also prefer that when they do they use a very strict definition of "natural born."

Because I think a loosey-goosey interpretation is very dangerous to the republic.

But again, I'd rather that our elected representatives did the clarifying, not the courts.

Children born in the US of illegal alien parents don't have to go thru the naturalization process; children born to green card holders do not have to go thru the naturalization process; children born to tourists do not have to go thru the naturalization process. They are all American citizens thru birthright citizenship (jus solis.)

Are they all considered to be eligible to be President of the United States under the Constitution, i.e., natural born citizens?

I doubt that Karl Rove has financially supported Ted Cruz, as I have.

You saw what Congress did with the Resolution on McCain (post 100). I am not too sanguine that Congress will pass something that will pass Constitutional muster. In any event, whatever Congress passes could be challenged in the courts.

“JIM Robertson”

[Snicker]

Anyway. Wow. What a non sequitur reply, in just about every way.

Trump’s your man. I get it. Everyone else must be squished.

One thing we HAVE to give nobama and the Regressives, they are smart enough to game the Constitution to work against America.

Believe me, there are few who have less confidence in this entire Congress, and in the courts, than I do.

And still, I think Congress should clarify the matter.

If the courts ever find an opportunity to chime in, that’s their prerogative, I suppose.

But in the end it is We the People who cast the votes and elect the electors, and Congress who is constitutionally responsible for tallying them. The courts are virtual bystanders to that process, ideally.

Notwithstanding Bush vs. Gore and rare court cases of that sort when the courts are asked to play referee.

And WHAT DOES THAT have to do with this debate ? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !

It has everything to do with it. It is the law of the land now and was then. Cruz was born of one US citizen parent in Canada, which also confers birthright citizenship automatically on Cruz. In essence, Cruz had dual nationality at the time. He only recently, in writing, renounced any claim to Canadian citizenship claiming he did not know he could opt for Canadian citizenship. He could have applied for a Canadian passport in much the same way that Obama could have applied for a Kenyan/British passport since his father was a citizen of Kenya.

The issue I raise is that if you use the criterion that a NBC under the Constitution means any US citizen who does not require naturalization to become a citizen, then this opens the door for the US born children of illegal aliens, green card holders, and tourists. All such children are US citizens at birth.

You still sound like Karl Rove though.

Exactly like him.

What exactly is the point in belittling Trump supporters?

It becomes a matter of standing. I suppose the Dem nominee or another Rep candidate could challenge Cruz's edibility to hold the office. The fact that McCain asked to have it clarified by the Senate and that Tribe and Olson wrote their opinion on the matter is telling. Even in Senate Resolution 511, Congress admitted that the matter has not been resolved;

Whereas the term ‘‘natural born Citizen’’, as that term appears in Article II, Section 1, is not defined in the Constitution of the United States;

Actually Theo. I’ve vetted Trump — over 100 threads) Carly ( who goes way back with Rove) ; Dr Ben ( who has been Trumps friend for decades and lives near him in Florida. Look into their work on St Judes foundation ) CRUZ, Bush and looked into a few others who have little background available Could give you trivia pro and con on any one of them.
I probably know more about Obamas white family than you’d be interested in ( he inherited millions in 1971 from great grandfather check out his schedule E on tax form— reason enough to not pass Keystone)
When you’ve done as much research let me know and we can have an intelligent conversation on the attributes of each candidate , their background and family histories
Trump is the only candidate taking on the GOPee directly. Yes I support that big time! Stopped contributions to them years ago
Because I post information about a candidate is purely to pass on information
Take it you are a CRUZ person.
CRUZ has many fine attributes. There are however a few issues he needs to address 1. His birth 2. His wife’s previous employment. 3 work permits for foreigners. These are going to be targeted by the D if he gets nomination Now is the time to deal with issues not hide them. Not just for him but for all candidates
