We're constantly told we should be flossing our teeth - despite it being fiddly, time-consuming and sometimes painful.
Figures show that less than a fifth of us actually bother to do it regularly - with many tacky rolls of floss gathering dust in bathrooms the world over.
Now, one leading expert has warned that if not performed correctly, flossing can actually do more harm than good.

Time for your fifteen minutes of fame.
I’ve been flossing 4-6 times a week since I was a teenager. I’ve had a grand total of 1 cavity my entire life. I use a floss pick now, so the “manual dexterity” issue claim is a canard.
The UK is not the best source for dental advice
It’s from a British newspaper, big surprise. I think I won’t take teeth advice from them.
My dentist always compliments my teeth. I floss, mouthwash, and brush twice a day. I’m not going to stop on the off-chance that I’m “doing it wrong”.

Everything I thought I knew as fact, is now being declared ‘false’. Just yesterday, I saw two examples, A.’Sitting for long periods of time does not shorten your life. B. Heavy consumption of antioxidants in foods can help cancer cells grow and spread.
Most people have to get crowns on their back two molars precisely because they don’t floss in between those two teeth.
Dental advice from England?
Flossing can lead to making your gums bleed as well if you go too low on the gum and the gum opens up a little.
Then all the dirt in your mouth makes it’s way into the blood stream.
Arteries close and then you are in a box in the dirt awaiting the second coming of Christ.
Outside of that, floss away! LOL

Driving a car may do more harm than good if not performed correctly.
Performed correctly, flossing is nearly as beneficial as brushing correctly
