Flossing can lead to making your gums bleed as well if you go too low on the gum and the gum opens up a little.
Then all the dirt in your mouth makes it’s way into the blood stream.
Arteries close and then you are in a box in the dirt awaiting the second coming of Christ.
Outside of that, floss away! LOL

The hygiene diagrams will doubtless tell you to use flat floss and do a careful tooth hugging thing from the top down to the gum on each side. I don’t know if there has been scientific comparison between that degree of assiduousness and just flicking the floss down to the gum just enough to knock out any gross particles that the brush won’t get.
