Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin's relationship has always been, shall we say, fraught, but on Monday they shared a toast at the United Nations that looks to have been, even by their high standards, pretty weird.
There's so much to take in here. The nuclear powers side-eye. Putin's almost triumphalist smirk; Obama's undisguised loathing (there's an unmistakable "let's get this over with" look on his face) of the man with whom he's touching glasses. The discrepancy in size between the two men — look at how much farther Obama's arm reached than Putin's — adds another layer to it all. But their eyes sure are locked.
I thought Mashable's global news editor, Louise Roug, put it best when she wrote, "They clearly see side-eye to side-eye on things."
This was a scripted event, but there was still plenty of reason for awkwardness. President Obama's speech to the United Nations General Assembly that morning opened with an extended subtweet of Russian President Vladimir Putin, lamenting for example that "some major powers assert themselves in ways that contravene international law" (gee, I wonder which major powers). From there, Obama transitioned from implicit criticism of Putin to explicit, going point by point on Russia's misdeeds in Ukraine.
Putin returned the favor, giving a lengthy UN address of his own on Monday — his first since 2005 — blaming the United States for the wars in Libya, Syria, and Ukraine.

In a phone interview with CNN Tuesday evening, Trump claimed that there’s “something in the Iran deal” that “people don’t understand” saying if someone attacks Iran, “we have to come to their defense.”
“Does that include Israel?” Trump asked. “And most people say yes, they don’t have an exclusion for Israel. So if Israel attacks Iran, according to that deal, I believe, the way it reads, unless they have a codicil or they have something to it, that we have to fight with Iran against Israel.” ..."
Trump was most probably referring to language highlighted by the opponents of the deal. On page 142, the deal includes a clause that states, “Co-operation through training and workshops to strengthen Iran’s ability to protect against, and respond to nuclear security threats, including sabotage, as well as to enable effective and sustainable nuclear security and physical protection systems.”
Washington-based Center for Security Policy asserted that Annex III appears “to commit the United States and other world powers to the defense of Iran’s nuclear program.”

When the door open, Putin sauntered through staring right at the waiting presstitutes and in the back ground Obama could be seen still standing in the office with his pants down and his undies pulled up over his head in a super wedgie.
Putin is smirking because his agreement with Iran, Syria, and Iraq has pulled the flying carpet from under zero’s feet. The nuke deal was supposed to make Iran beholden to the US but, no deal.
I’m no fan of Obama, but that sneering mobster next to him ticks me off just as much, if not more.
Careful. There are people on this site who think Putin is the 2nd Coming. The Messiah.

We have family members, good friends and people we have worked with, who are in big time wine business, from owners of wineries, vineyards, wine makers and cellar masters.
We had the old fashioned wine glasses with the stems. After having the wine people above, over for dinner or brunch and using our old wine glasses in the past year.
Afterwards, we got nice gifts with the new flat bottom glasses from these good people. That is their subtle way of saying the wine glasses have changed re what is appropriate wine glass wise.

So we use the new flat bottom wine glasses with those who gave them to us.
We still use the old stem glasses with people who haven’t donated an update of wine glasses. That way we can expand our wine glass supply with more gifts of flat bottom wine glasses.:)
We prefer the flat bottom wine glasses for both reds and whites.

Good analysis. I agree. Obama has the look of a defeated kid. Putin has the look of confidence and victory. The whole world wants ISIS defeated and Putin is ready to do so. So sad. Americans have the power to defeat ISIS promptly.
Let’s just hope Putin will rise to be the man to match his words because the world needs an adult to take charge over there in Syria- Iraq
If Putin got 5 minutes alone with this poofter, they wouldn’t be able to reassemble the parts to make even half of an Obama.
