What are your top 3 favorite episodes of the original Twilight Zone series?
Aug 28, 2015 | Self

I don't know if the following TZ episode list is 100% accurate, in terms of air dates, etc.

In any case, my top 3 favorites in the western category are:

The Grave, The 7th Is Made Up of Phantoms, and Mr. Garrity and the Graves. Other 'western' episodes are:

Mr. Denton on Doomsday, (The) Execution, Dust, A Hundred Yards Over the Rim, and Still Valley.

Of the 'Space' episodes, my top 3 are:

People Are Alike All Over, The Lonely, and The Little People. To Serve Man was a great one too, IMHO.

Other assorted favorites (in order of listed air dates) are:

Time Enough At Last, A Nice Place to Visit, A Stop at Willoughby, The Howling Man, The Night Of The Meek, The Odyssey Of Flight 33, The Rip Van Winkle Caper, The Obsolete Man, The Hunt, The Changing of the Guard, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, and Living Doll (Talky Tina).

My other favorite was the Hocus-Pocus and Frisby episode with Andy Devine.

I mentioned on this thread Floyd the Barber from the Andy Griffith Show. He was in that TW episode with Andy Devine.

LOL. Yeah, little stuff like that can be surprising. But it is subtle. I don’t care for much of today’s programming. You never know what they will try to place in front of you. I don’t want to see homo kissing, etc.

no no, that was DEMON WITH A GLASS HAND, which was the inspiration for The Terminator series.

I meant THE ARCHITECTS OF FEAR, a 1963 OUTER LIMITS episode

The world has entered a Cold War-esque setting in which nuclear holocaust appears imminent. In the hope of staving off an apocalyptic military confrontation between nations, an idealistic group of scientists working at United Labs plans to stage a fake alien invasion of Earth in an effort to unite all humanity against a perceived, common enemy. The scientists have managed to study the planetary conditions on the planet Theta. They draw lots, and physicist Dr. Allen Leighton is chosen to undergo radical surgical procedures that will transform him into a projected figure from a planet with a different atmosphere. Leighton’s death is faked, and the bizarre series of transplants and modifications to his body proceed. His wife, Yvette, persists in not believing he is dead; she feels sympathetic pain as Allen suffers on the operating table. Complications arise when the effects of Leighton’s transformation extend beyond his physical appearance and begin to affect his mind, a situation compounded by the scientist’s strong psychic link to his pregnant wife.

The scientists’ plan is for Dr. Leighton, as the Thetan creature equipped with an energy weapon and spaceship, to land at the United Nations in an effort to create initial panic. This panic, in theory, will be resolved as the world unites to fight the invader. Leighton, now a perfect simulation of an inhabitant of the planet Theta, is launched into orbit as a weather satellite but the mission goes awry when the spaceship comes down off course and lands in a wooded area near the United Labs facility. After disintegrating their station wagon with his laser pistol, Allen is severely wounded by three duck hunters armed with shotguns as he emerges from the underbrush. In a futile attempt to possibly heal his wounds, Allen stumbles back to the lab. Yvette again feels his pain and hurries to the lab looking for her husband. She arrives as the Thetan enters and collapses to the floor. Before dying of mortal wounds, the creature demonstrates “the mark against evil”, a personal gesture - touching a finger to the lips, and then to the forehead - which they once shared, and Yvette then realizes the horrifying truth that the alien is, in fact, her husband.

Your plot summary is EXACTLY what I told you:

That is actually an episode of The Outer Limits, which starred Robert Culp as the "monster."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0667826/

Robert Culp was the star of BOTH Demon and Architects of Fear.

Politically incorrect? We are to look at aliens as our harmless friends or space brothers if they come. The Pope says he’ll baptize them.

I wonder why they won’t make great family series like this anymore. The episodes were not totally gory and had a worth while moral to the story or a wise warning to mankind. They were short and to the point. Great scripts. Not politically correct.

I saw one on a white racist who was transported back in time to Nazi Germany as a Jew. He was on the run.

I don’t think Hollywierd has the talent nor wisdom to create shows like this anymore. Their wisdom and morality goes as deeply as a left wing P.C. slogan. That is not inspiring for most people. Our society is starving for good, Western cultural acting productions and novels. The evil of entertainment is too thick and pure.

Remember that I mistakenly left off some episodes at the end. However, I added them in at the end of this thread.

Agreed. I look forward to the New Years Eve TZ marathon every year. i never tire of seeing them. I didn’t know George Takei had appeared in TZ; I’ll have to look for it.

The Encounter A World War II veteran and a Japanese-American gardener battle each other over a war that ended more than 20 years ago.

Thank to ETL for finding the episode with Takei.

I've only seen it on you tube, so maybe they *still* prefer to not run that one.

It IS pretty intense.

I like this from your FR Home page...

Lol! Reminded me of this that went around by e-mail a few years back:

Teaching Math In 1950:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit?

Teaching Math In 1960:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

Teaching Math In 1970:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

Teaching Math In 1980:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20 Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

Teaching Math In 1990:
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living?
(Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers.)
