Haven't done one for a while and with all that is going on I though it would be a good idea to do a Weekly Prepper Thread, for posting tips, new products, good prep buys etc.....
There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.
Haven’t seen it. I’ll check it out. Thank you.
I ate bugs during SERE. Didn’t like them, but they were calories that kept me going. Roger the canned tuna.
LOL.

I put mine in Mylar bags with an oxygen absorber. Should last 30 years that way.
They’ll probably last a year, if you don’t vacuum seal or put them in Mylar. After that, they’ll just be harder to cook. You could also freeze them.
My thought is a weekly dedicated thread (like the gardening thread), and continue pinging the list on existing threads of interest.
“Sometimes when something is critical like water, I prep in four (well, spring, rain, ram pump).”
What’s a ram pump?
Got the well, but not a hand pump so still need electricity or propane for the generator. A creek is across the street, but it is seasonal and water would have to be hauled 100’ up hill.
Take advantage of the $50 worth of free tuna Starkist must settle with its consumers. Cans of tuna in oil can be stored for many years and they also make great emergency candles. Google it.
“For cheap food prep we have been putting back dried bulk beans. “
It takes a while to cook dry beans, doesn’t it? I know you soak them over night. My biggest concern is having the fuel to cook beans as long as needed. I love me some beans.
I watched my first videos on "Rocket Stoves", which can be made from a few $1.70 cinder blocks and one H-block.
Here is the 2 burner model.
These have an elbow which forms a chimney, and the air is "jetted" through due to the hot air rising and "sucking" in more oxygen rich air.

With just a little bit of fuel, you have a very efficient and hot stove.
I just got mine about a year ago. I don’t know why it has to be so incredibly boring for something so useful! Studying for it was excruciating and I’m an engineer, so technical subjects are not foreign to me.
Ten men dropped off separately on Vancouver Island in the fall. They are alone with limited supplies and they have to do their own filming.
Last one out wins a half million.
Kart, I have recipes I collected for easy bread making on the top of a stove (thinking one wouldn't have a working oven) and other easy recipes for desserts (like cobblers) on top of the stove and other easy meals to make on top of stove. Most of these recipes came from my researching old Indian recipes and early settler recipes. None are complicated as the idea was EASY and using ingredients one would have on hand in a prepper mode.
None require any ingredient that would be in a fridge since we wouldn't have a fridge. Indians and early settlers didn't have a fridge or oven.
I have thought of asking you if I could post some of these recipes when you put on a prepper thread. If that is okay with you, I will do it but right now I'm in Ohio in a hotel with my travel computer and the recipes are not on this little computer. I should be home by Sept. 12 and could start posting those around that time.
Let me know if I can do that.
As to your posting prepper threads, normalcy bias causes some people to deny anything could happen and prepper posts make them uncomfortable so some complain. Ignore those coplaints as you help many people and those are the ones you reach with the threads.

Post AWAY! You always have good stuff Marcella!
I’m doing pretty good on the regulation stuff; the metric system is killing me :-)

“Coffee? That was 5 different backups.”
“One of the first rules of prepping is estentials FIRST!”
(I have eight ways to cook food.)
My parents were both Hams (Amateur Extra), as well as 2 sisters (General Class). I felt rather shamed to get my General. I thought I’d never learn code. It took me forever until I discovered Code Quick software that pairs the sound with a pnuemonic/ word sound like “dog did it” for the letter “d.” I could finally hear the difference and learned all the code in something ridiculous like 2 days. I also reccommend Ham University which is now free. It was the best code software I found (I tried a lot!!) before code quick and is great for practice and also has test questions for the written test. I’m proud to say I had perfect copy when I took my code test.
Start a thread as many times as you wish. They and you are most appreciated. As always, ignore the grumps.
Good price - and free shipping!
How do you store yours? cI had some in a plastic bucket before I moved. I never noticed any deterioration of the bucket.
Half gallon mason jars would work with plastic lids, I guess.
In addition, have athlete’s foot powder. Got two of the military ones years ago and some commercial product also.
Something else to consider - poison ivy scrub. Tech-Nu is the best I’ve seen. Pricey at $12-14, but if you get poison ivy, oak or sumac, you’l be glad you spent the money.
“It takes a while to cook dry beans, doesnt it? I know you soak them over night. My biggest concern is having the fuel to cook beans as long as needed. I love me some beans.”
I have a simple way to cook dry beans that is fast, using not much fuel. I don’t have that recipe with me as I’m on my small conputer and in Ohio. I’ll save your name and send that to you after Sept. 12.
