Author Gabriel Sherman went on with Steve Malzberg on NewsMax TV Thursday.
Sherman wrote The Loudest Voice in the Room in 2014 on FOX News President Roger Ailes. Today he told Malzberg that Megyn Kelly wants to go mainstream and is keeping her options open.

Gabriel Sherman: In the days after the debate all of the emails and messages that FOX News was getting from their viewers were pro-Trump emails. Roger Ailes and his executives at FOX were shocked at the volume of the response. And, they really didn’t know what to do because their audience loves Trump. And yet FOX by all measures really hammered him. So they were sort of treating him with kid gloves until this interview when he came forward and questioned her vacation. That’s when they released a statement and compared him to conspiracy theories… Roger Ailes has never really faced an adversary like Donald Trump. Donald Trump doesn’t play by his rules so Ailes does not know what to do. This week he decided to come out and hit him…
Steve Malzberg: You also talk about in this piece the conspiracy theories that this is all setting up down the road the big Megyn Kelly – Donald Trump sit-down. And this is somehow being, if not coordinated, discussed by Ailes and Trump… Why is Megyn Kelly not firing back at this point?
Gabriel Sherman: Well, she, up until this point, was the fastest rising star at FOX News. She was really becoming the face of the network. And, I don’t think she wants to get down in the weeds and the gutter and play this kind of hardball politics.
Steve Malzberg: Because she’ll lose.
Gabriel Sherman: Or, she wants to, part of this is she wants to go mainstream. There was some talk before her most recent contract that she was flirting with CNN to kind of jump from FOX to CNN. And, I think she wants to leave all options on the table. If she gets down in the weeds and slugs it out with Trump that will hurt her brand.

I truly don’t care what Megyn Kelly does. If she wants to go somewhere else, more power to her. There are plenty of equally qualified personalities ready to take her place.
Going to CNN would not be going “mainstream”. Fox News knocks the socks off of CNN in terms of ratings.

Kelly couldn’t hold a candle to Loni Anderson back in the day.

MSNBC sure has a lot of openings now, and his is one case where the IQ's of both networks would increase.
Don't anybody feel sorry for this harpy. This alleged lawyer has yet to demonstrate anything but the barest knowledge of law with her meaningless anecdotes. She is less authoritative than Nancy Grace IMHO. It smells of an affirmative action law degree.
When it comes to the big Constitutional issues like Barry's lack of Natural-Born-Citizenship, Obamacare, Homo Marriage and now the 14th Amendment anchor babies she has been thoroughly useless. Just a blonde talking head.

I have been with fox for ... decades? A very, very long time. Watched the network constantly.
Fox News. Fox Business. Local Fox channels.
Just saying. I am comfortable turning away from Fox over this. I haven’t watched the network one moment since that “debate”.

I got Amazon Fire TV and am watching OAN ...I love it. Purchased it two days after the debates. Not a boycott or anything, just a choice to get better non-biased news. With the BBC and SKY NEWS apps, I’m close to cutting the cable.
Yes, I always watched CNN international when I traveled outside the U.S. CNN USA didn’t do any good news beyond our borders...according to them the weather stops at our borders...Canada and Mexico have no weather I guess? I always wished I could get CNN INT’L when I came home. I am seeing better coverage similar to that with OAN.

I remember seeing a Fox interview where Bush 43 welcomed Brett Baier into the Oval Office by telling him that he has “a face for radio”.
She hasn’t matured in her thinking in four years. In other ways, she is maturing rapidly.

Shannon Bream! To me, she is the best talent in Fox, she can fill in for ANYBODY at Fox and you would think she is the regular host. She does Special Report better than Brett. A very talented lady.
