Michael Sam will step away from professional football, he announced via Twitter on Friday night.
Sam, the 25-year-old who began the season with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes, cited a tumultuous past year for leaving football at this time.
The Alouettes confirmed in a release that Sam has left the club for "personal reasons" and that he has been added to the team's suspended list.
Sam made the announcement in a series of three tweets.

So, to recap. Didn’t make the Rams. Didn’t make the Cowboys practice squad. And now drops out of the CFL. why does this guy get so much press?

It seemw that Sam the man’s significant other, Vito Cammisano’s uncle was quite the mafioso figure. The “boss of all bosses” in the Kansas City mob. So does this mean Vito is the, ahem Fairy Godfather? I’m sorry I couldn’t help myself :^P

I thought he played "defense" in the SEC, which would be newsworthy.
Imagine if he’d not been a football player. Had he gone into government, media, or big business he’d have been there for 40 years with everyone touting his greatness at every turn. Instead , placed in a meritocracy, he found his level and washed out physically and mentally.
I get a front row seat to some of that life style and what you say is true in my opinion.

Seriously though, if I'm C.J. Mosley, 2013 CO-SEC Defensive Player of the Year, I'm demanding that the SEC remove Michael Sam from the award that year and name me the sole recipient. I bet he's been pissed about that ever since it happened.
