Radiocarbon dating which is used to estimate the age of every particular thing on earth is facing big threat from the fossil fuel and carbon in the atmosphere. Researchers said excess of carbon in atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuel could reduce the accuracy of Radiocarbon dating.
Heather Graven, a climate-physics researcher at Imperial College London, after an analysis has found that emissions from fossil fuels are artificially raising the carbon age of the atmosphere.
...
"Combustion of fossil fuels is diluting the fraction of atmospheric carbon dioxide containing radiocarbon. This is making the atmosphere appear as though it has aged or lost radiocarbon by radioactive decay occurring over time."

OK, so I put a methane detector in my shorts. And carbon date things.
So I am really old, and haven’t changed my shorts in a billion years?
My wife might agree.
LMAO! This makes even less sense than the rest of the global warming nonsense-talk about desperation...
Okay, let’s stop using fuel in order to figure out how old things are...
Yes, exactly. It’s for the children.
Excellent link. I’ve listened to about half of it so far.
“after an analysis has found that emissions from fossil fuels are artificially raising the carbon age of the atmosphere.
Right, and there was no excess carbon in the atmosphere before we started burning fossil fuels...yeah, right.
Hey Professor, every time there is a volcanic eruption, or a forest fire, it puts far more carbon in the atmosphere.
I stopped reading right there. This woman is nuts.

So this means that things that are carbon-dated appear older than they really are.
Fancy that.
I posted some comments at the article itself so if you want to read what a former archaeologist thought about it, please go to it.
Not impressed by the writing or even the theories involved.
Listened to the whole great presentation.
Thanks for providing it.
Now we'll have the young earth crowd aligning with the environ lunatics.
> Researchers said excess of carbon in atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuel could reduce the accuracy of Radiocarbon dating...
There are natural fluctuations in the radiocarbon “age” of the atmosphere, as evidenced by coral reefs, stalactite/stalagmites, and tree rings; this study is just political axegrinding.
Thanks BenLurkin. And no, radiocarbon dating isn't "suspect", and there's no radiocarbon dating of dino fossils, other than by charlatans.
AKA how to abuse the words ‘could’ and ‘analysis’ to build a headline and get the funding.
They come in and radiocarbon estimate my age every year. How come you’re exempt?
This isn’t theories. This is done by researchers and based on an analysis, OK? It’s true because things that are written down and published must be true. Nobody would conspire to mislead or manipulate people just for prestige, power and/or money. Let’s cut the cynicism people, OK?
“Nobody would conspire to mislead or manipulate people just for prestige, power and/or money.”
You forgot the sarcasm tag.
Don’t believe in it.
“Dont believe in it.”
Sarcasm tags?...pretty sure those exist....LOL
If you mean you believe “Nobody would conspire to mislead or manipulate people just for prestige, power and/or money.
Does the term “Global Warming” ring a bell?
