Ruger Precision Rifle (new long-range rifle - beautiful and inexpensive)

As Townsend Whelen, former U.S. Army colonel and American Rifleman contributor, was once famously quoted as saying, Only accurate rifles are interesting. Employing that rubric alone, the Ruger Precision Rifle is a supremely interesting firearm. And, to the companys credit, the introduction of additional evaluation criteria such as versatility, reliability and value only make its newest bolt-action repeater all the more intriguing. Featuring sub-minute-of-angle accuracy, the dependability of a bolt gun built on the gunmakers proven American action, all the modularity of the über-customizable AR-15 platform, the ability to accept a multitude of magazine types and a price tag that is a literal fraction of many of the guns it will compete against on the market, Rugers latest foray into the long-range precision shooting field should pique the interest of a broad range of gun aficionados.
Sturm, Ruger & Co. believes that within the gun world there exists a sizeable segment of shooters who are interested in long-range precision shootingthey just have never been able to justify taking the plunge due to the typically astronomical cost of purchasing a gun designed expressly for that purpose. With an MSRP of $1,399and a likely eventual selling price closer to $1,100the Precision Rifle represents Rugers invitation for these cost-conscious gun buyers to finally enter the world of long-range shooting.

Winchester Model 70 30-06 with a cheap Simmons scope will shoot under 1" all day. Going to upgrade the glass this fall.
Have no idea what it'll do at 800 but that 1/2" sounds sweet.
The ruger definitely looks nice.

Doesn’t seem too expensive to me.
I think I paid $900 for my Stag Arms AR-15 awhile back.

Haven’t seen the 6.5 Creedmore, but the 6.5 x 55 is very impressive. Haven’t tried the 260 either. If you like I’m sure it’s worth a look.

308 all day, everyday heh.
I wonder what kind of groups they’re expecting from this rifle with match ammo.

Does it come with replacement shoulders? That little pussy cat? Love shooting it with the steel buttplate wearing only a thin t-shirt.

Wear sunglasses because the muzzle flash can blind you at night.
