Throngs of impassioned fans of the US women's soccer team turned out early for a parade through New York City's Canyon of Heroes to celebrate the squad's victory at the Women's World Cup.

The parade-goers started gathering at 3,30am on Friday along the Canyon - a stretch of Broadway where the nation's largest city has honored its legends - in anticipation of the event's 11 am start.

Friday's celebration marked the first time New York City held a parade honoring a women's sports team.

(4) The event was accomplished without visible use of the American Flag or even out flag colors. Those girls were assigned Nike yellow, black and white, like corporate products. The fact that they were American Women was heavily glossed over. What a deal to make for the team.

A friend that plays in an adult women’s league here in north Jersey described the dynamic; if you got into a tussle with a lesbian on the other team, a lesbian on your own team might support them against you.

I am surprised. I figured your own teams lesbian would volunteer to act as "muscle" against the other teams lesbian-dyke-bull dyke what ever is the flavor of the day

When will they start bragging that most of team is Lesbian ?

They look feminine enough going by the photo here? Or maybe they are the benchwarmers while the lesbians are getting the playing time. I see one player with a side shaved head. I thinks shes one of the lezzzzbos

Thanks for your comment. No American flags at all at the scene? Hard to believe, but then again, look who’s in charge of the event!

The event was accomplished without visible use of the American Flag or even out flag colors.

Looking at the photos posted by SeekAndFind on this thread, it seems like DeBlasio was wearing something red, white, and blue around his neck, but the float was predominantly black and gold.

In all honesty, there were a few American flags being waved by spectators in the photo, but red, white, and blue was not the predominant color theme there as well.

“Parade-goers — many wearing red, white and blue — started gathering at 3:30 a.m. along the Canyon of Heroes, a stretch of Broadway where the nation’s largest city has honored its legends. When the parade got underway at 11 a.m., the crowd was as much as 10 deep along the route.”

As much as 10 deep along the route? Not all that impressive for lower Manhattan during business hours, especially considering all the pre-parade publicity from the relentless leftist NYC media in the three days before.

Justiceseeker is absolutely correct. European football is not American football. I played European football when I was a teenager and while it was fun to play it is not fun to watch. American football is much more satisfying to play and watch. I also felt there was more kamraderie in American football than soccer.

I’d say that crowd is quite impressive considering soccer is considered by many Americans as a secondary “foreign” sport ( much less Women’s soccer ) compared to Football or Baseball.

Leftist media or not, I’m not going to diminish the hard work and accomplishment put on by these women ( yep and I include the lesbians in the group, whose in-your-face activism I personally detest ).

All these questioning about the size of the crowd in order to minimize the sport just makes me chuckle.

I was working near lower Manhattan when the Giants won the NFL and there was a parade for them which I personally witnessed. By the looks of the video of this parade, I see little difference between the size of the crowd.

RE: The event was accomplished without visible use of the American Flag or even out flag colors.

Not true at all, just watch the video of the parade. The front float had the girls waving the flag. Those watching the parade were waving American flags. Those playing the bagpipes were carrying flags.

See minute 27 to 30 as an example.

RE: It lauded soccer, a sport that is traditionally non-American, i.e., internationalism as compared to Americanism.

For me, this is LESS of a concern.

If we can excel at a sport that did not originate from our country and BEAT the originators ( whoever they are ) at their game, well, it is an even greater accomplishment in my book.

That would be like having the best American Judo, Kung Fu and Karate winners in the world.

I don’t see much point in disparaging soccer for political reasons. Or women’s sports in general.

For me at least I like to look at sports as an escape from politics. The media makes that difficult with it’s fixation on homosexual athletes.

For me at least I like to look at sports as an escape from politics. The media makes that difficult with it’s fixation on homosexual athletes.

The epitome of that was the outrageous analogy in the lefty sports media last year of newly declared gay NBA mediocrity, Jason Collins, to Jackie Robinson.

And how about the latest lefty sports media bit of idiocy: ESPN, as one of its ESPYs this coming week, is giving its annual "Courage Award" to ... (roll those drums, folks)... Caitlin Jenner!!!

Your wish for a separation of sports and politics can't occur as long as the left and its mindset control both sports ownership AND the sports media.

One caveat, however. The "originators" in Europe were all men. Women's soccer is new, even in those originator countries.
