RE: It lauded soccer, a sport that is traditionally non-American, i.e., internationalism as compared to Americanism.
For me, this is LESS of a concern.
If we can excel at a sport that did not originate from our country and BEAT the originators ( whoever they are ) at their game, well, it is an even greater accomplishment in my book.
That would be like having the best American Judo, Kung Fu and Karate winners in the world.
One caveat, however. The "originators" in Europe were all men. Women's soccer is new, even in those originator countries.
