The manager of one of Britains biggest bond funds has urged investors to keep cash under the mattress.

You hold physical cash, and what do you get?

I’d like some good advice on what to do with my 401k (not a lot of money but don’t want to lose it) and some stocks. I’m not falling for the so-called internet experts who want money for their “best kept secrets on how to weather the upcoming financial disaster” - and notice Ron Paul has a spiel out there.
Would like to know what others are doing besides having some cash, guns/ammo, food and a current passport at the ready .

Transmute your paper into gold & silver, like magic. An alchemist’s wet dream...sort of.
Seriously, I don’t know what else to suggest (besides lead, brass and non perishables). It is hard to believe that the money printing, the endless trillions in derivatives, the bogus economic stats we are force fed, are not a house of cards that must come crashing down.
And the Vast Machine watching us. Anyone readers here catch that reference?
IF ONLY we could see the future.
That looks nice enough to write a song about!

September 13 this year is Elul 29 of the Shemitah year in the Jewish calendar.
The Shemitah is a huge subject - unfortunately I have no time to discuss it properly as I am off to bed.
I’ll just say that the simplest, least controversial fact about the Shemitah is that there is an undeniable statistical correlation between stockmarket crashes and the ancient 7-year cycle of the Shemitah - especially during the last two Shemitah years (2001 and 2008).
The 18 days containing Elul 29 of the ‘Shemitah year’ - which happens every seven years - are statistically much more likely to contain a market crash than any other 18 days in the seven year period.
Simple stock market signal-amplification or act of God - whichever the Shemitah effect is - a lot of people are going to tread carefully this September.
I’m not in the market anyway - it’s a trainwreck waiting to happen.
Nor would I stay in cash. I think that this is the year the dollar finally step-devalues, and the months up to September are a likely enough time for that to happen. Jade Helm (which officially ends in September) may yet turn out to have been set up for riot control in the event of a dollar crash.
Hope this was helpful! Good night.
Make em yourself?
Totally worthless. Doesn’t have a picture of a woman on it.
If you do it carefully, they’ll jail you for ‘structuring’. And if you lie about what you did with it, they’ll get you for that. Better to let the bank report, just hide well it and refuse to answer when they come for you.
Hedy Lamarr, a Hollywood actress known for her good looks and classic come-hither bedroom gaze, also played a key role in developing cell phone technology widely used today.
Born 100 years ago today [Nov 9, 2014] in Vienna, the actress made a lesser-known contribution to wireless communication when she tried to defuse a potential military threat during World War II. To prevent remote-controlled torpedoes from being hijacked, she helped develop an early version of spread spectrum communication, which is part of the basis for wireless technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Re cash under the mattress:
“You might as well have a neon sign with an arrow near your bed. “
Yes, and if you want the sign to appear extra-bright, post a sign outside saying, “Gun-Free Home.”
Those with food and ammo will be the ones that survive.
You also need REAL trade goods such as cigarettes and booze for a well-rounded investment.
In the event of a sudden financial crash banks might not be available to us so having some cash for short term expenses you’ll have makes sense. A longer bank crisis however could mean the end of cash and what you have in or out of the bank might be worthless. In any event it would take some time to get to that point. In the right circumstances I’d pay $100 per gallon for gas and hundreds for other necessary things if I had to. That is what emergency cash is for. Don’t expect people to be fair and/or considerate during an emergency. Great if it happens but prepare for the worst and prepare to be gouged and ripped off as you are paying.
Thanks
Uh oh.
easier said than done for those of us with elderly who’ve been in and out of Doctors. Even with trying to buy just what we can get by with, living paycheck to paycheck.
