This isn't quite what is implied by "controlling electromagnatic waves". They have hairs that reflect heat and that are very efficient at dissipating heat but they aren't controlling EM fields, rather they are well adapted to light energy across a broad spectrum.

My dreams of getting bitten by a radioactive ant and gaining the power to control radios are effectively dashed.
