this forum is becoming a mouthpiece for cruz.
Under current law, yes.
If you dont like that, change Congress.
....And the children of citizens of the United States, that maybe born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens....
The first congress clearly stated that NBC status is NOT dependent on location when born to one or more citizen.
the 14th amendment didn’t exist at the time A2S1C5 was written. even if it did, it only addresses citizenship and not natural born status.
the point here is the definition of ‘natural born citizen’ as understood and meant by the founders.
Really? You can’t be that impaired.
that was to deal with the kids already born at the time of the adoption. it was a situation they had to deal with. 2 parents given citizenship as they’re in the country now, but had a kid in another country prior to the US formerly coming into being.
the ‘on the soil’ requirement rules out citizenship from another country. i believe it was bjclinton that lifted the dual citizenship ban for americans. as such, at the time of the founders, being born on another country’s soil would have given you a conflicting citizenship status.
either way, the dual citizen parent requirement for NBC is obvious as stated in the quote.

I trust Senator Cruz knows what's best for Texas conservatives in these two complicated situations. Since I don't know all the facts behind his position, I don't know whether to agree or disagree with you or him.
But I still like Senator Cruz and think his values and viewpoints are more closely aligned with mine than the other candidates at this time. For now, he has my vote. Whether he keeps it or not is up to him and how closely we agree on the issues and outcomes before the next election.
At least he doesn't vote "present" like Senator Obama to avoid confronting the issues.
No, you are wrong. The TPP has not even come for a vote at any level, in any committee. Only the TPA has, and that gives 0bama no authority to do anything with the TPP. Should the House pass the TPA, then, and only then, will the TPA be effective.
The TPA does not allow a treaty to pass. That still takes 2/3 of the Senate. All the subsequent bills which utilize the TPA will be required to be available publicly for months before a pure “up or down” vote occurs. That “up or down vote” will need only 51 votes, but it will not be a treaty, but instead a simple agreement.
“...his values and viewpoints are more closely aligned with mine”
His often expressed values and viewpoints are closely aligned with mine, too, and if only his votes followed. They don’t.
Unfortunately, he was wrong in about everything he said.
Read post number 268 for the truth.
You are wrong. The TPA fast track that Cruz voted for gives Obama authority to finish negotiating the TPP in secrecy (FACT)
The TPA also only requires a simple majority vote in the House and Senate. The TPA that Cruz voted for gives away the Senate’s right to a 60-vote cloture. (FACT)
The TPA that Cruz voted for also says that no member of congress can offer any Amendments to change the TPP that Obama negotiates (FACT)
Saying it’s not law yet because the House has not approved it has nothing to do with the fact that Cruz voted for it showing exactly how treacherous he is.
And skirting law by calling it an Agreement between nations rather than a Treaty is also low class. The secret TPP which Cruz has read and won’t tell us about is reportedly being kept secret because it covers FAR MORE than trade. It also creates international boards of review and opens borders for uncontrolled travel and immigration. That is far more than an Agreement.
If there was nothing wrong with it Obama and his buddy Ted Cruz would not be hiding things from us.
Again, I don’t care what Cruz says. I judge him by his actions, especially when it really counts.
Cruz cannot be trusted so it is time we all move on and find someone who is not a fraud.
I guess it was at least nice of Cruz to show up though. He has one of the lowest vote attendance rates in the Senate. He reminds me so much of Senator Present now in the Oval Office.
ooooh no I am so hurt
When the TPA passes, it does not pass, in any way, anything with the TPP that 0bama is doing, has done, or will do. Whatever 0bama does with the TPP will have to come to the House and Senate for a vote before any of it is effective.
Cruz reminds you of Hussein?
Hyberbole Much?
Both of you need to read this:
I think what might be happening in a few cases, besides outright spin on just what these ‘trade’ things really are, what they really include, (Wait until The TISA thing hits FR!!!), is that folks are reluctant to move away from Ted Cruz. They have a lot of feelings invested. I understand that. I really liked the guy......but he had me fooled bad. I admit it. So what? Not the first time I have been faked out of my old jock, and it probably won’t be the last. How people can support this America destroying, (how do I know it is America destroying?.....because Obama is for it! SIMPLE huh?), ‘trade’ thing boggles the mind. How folks can side with and support ANYTHING the most evil person to ever hold the office of President of the United States wants for us is beyond me. So are own folks are defending this nightmare for America TPP that Barry is pushing for HARD? I do not understand that for one minute. So called Conservatives siding with for what the muslim Barry wants to help topple our Country?.....never thought I’d see it.
