No, you are wrong. The TPP has not even come for a vote at any level, in any committee. Only the TPA has, and that gives 0bama no authority to do anything with the TPP. Should the House pass the TPA, then, and only then, will the TPA be effective.
The TPA does not allow a treaty to pass. That still takes 2/3 of the Senate. All the subsequent bills which utilize the TPA will be required to be available publicly for months before a pure “up or down” vote occurs. That “up or down vote” will need only 51 votes, but it will not be a treaty, but instead a simple agreement.
You are wrong. The TPA fast track that Cruz voted for gives Obama authority to finish negotiating the TPP in secrecy (FACT)
The TPA also only requires a simple majority vote in the House and Senate. The TPA that Cruz voted for gives away the Senate’s right to a 60-vote cloture. (FACT)
The TPA that Cruz voted for also says that no member of congress can offer any Amendments to change the TPP that Obama negotiates (FACT)
Saying it’s not law yet because the House has not approved it has nothing to do with the fact that Cruz voted for it showing exactly how treacherous he is.
And skirting law by calling it an Agreement between nations rather than a Treaty is also low class. The secret TPP which Cruz has read and won’t tell us about is reportedly being kept secret because it covers FAR MORE than trade. It also creates international boards of review and opens borders for uncontrolled travel and immigration. That is far more than an Agreement.
If there was nothing wrong with it Obama and his buddy Ted Cruz would not be hiding things from us.
Again, I don’t care what Cruz says. I judge him by his actions, especially when it really counts.
Cruz cannot be trusted so it is time we all move on and find someone who is not a fraud.
I guess it was at least nice of Cruz to show up though. He has one of the lowest vote attendance rates in the Senate. He reminds me so much of Senator Present now in the Oval Office.
Wrong. Hatch wrote it so that it will require 60 votes for disapproval. Otherwise, Obama will skate with whatever Kerry comes back with.
