I am making two presumptions here:
1. There was a time most of us would sit and watch 30 minutes of Peter Jennings, or Brokaw, or CNN in the PM to find out what was happening in the world. 2. Most of us here no longer watch any MSM news.
If my presumptions are right, what was it that caused you to finally boycott MSM news forever? Was there some final straw that caused that decision?

The day I realized Walter Cronkite reported every story as a Democrat Party Agent and Citizen of the World.
When was that? 1968...69...?
I still watched the networks but with little faith. The tipping point for me was when General Westmoreland sued CBS. The outcome of the suit was irrelevant.
During that time some documentaries emerged on TV regarding the Vietnam War. Until that time I still thought the US Military lost the TET Offensive.
I don't know how any ever made it through the networks editors, but many high ranking US military men were interviewed for these documentaries. I remember one, although, I, sadly, can't recall the interviewees name. He said, "We kicked the hell out of them in TET."
No one on that documentary refuted that statement which caused me to start reading. I realized that, while Cronkite didn't exactly lie to the American people, he took a really long detour around the truth.
I think the network anchors since Cronkite have been progressively worse, if that's possible. I haven't watched one second of network news since Norman Schwarzkopf had that wonderful press conference at the end of the first Gulf War.
Praise the Lord...Rush Limbaugh clips keep us up to date that ignoring them improves collective knowledge.

P.S. On second thought, I have watched things owned or managed by Brit Hume. I have felt he tries or tried to be objective. I could be wrong.
As soon as I discovered Fox News some time in the early 2000s. I’ve since quit watching them, too. They were bringing on asinine leftists who would just pi** me off. Now I get all my news from here. It does limit my local news intake, but it’s worth it.
But the biggest distortion is what he said he saw when he was one of the few persons in the world privileged to see the Abraham Zapruder film that Saturday morning, November 23. In his narration of the film as part of CBS nationwide television coverage, Rather said the President’s head “went forward with considerable violence.” This narration confirmed the so-called “Oswald position” for the nation, but he said nothing about the violent backward motion of the President’s head which would have strongly suggested a second gunman at that early date. Rather does take care to tell us again that he took no notes.
I began reducing my use of network news in the 1980s, while witnessing the media’s parroting of the Liberal/Left talking points and outright hatred against Reagan, and me being a California Conservative backing Reagan since his first run for Governor; while my reading continued to cover all bases.
It was in the fall of 2000 when any support for mainstream TV news and mainstream print journalism crashed altogether.
Gore was attempting to use the courts to selectively game the voting system of Florida, all the while ALL of the mainstream media was selling the lies that his use of the courts was right and the arguments against it in the Supreme Court were wrong; ignoring that both Liberal and Conservative Supreme Court judges ruled against Gore.
That was it; the jig was up, there was 0% unbiased news left in the mainstream media, and it showed 24/7/365 throughout 2000-2008.
In 2008 it got even worse than that. They prostituted themselves into the virtual media arm of the Obama campaign and have remained the virtual state media wing of his administration ever since.

Stopped watching evening news somewhere in the 90s. Stopped watching all network and cable news 2009.
I gave it up before Huntley-Brinkley ended. Started Fox when it began and had listened to Talk Radio from about 1983 on.
When Katie Couric looked bummed when Bush won against Gore. She was so visible about it that I suddenly understood what media bias meant.
BINGO! When I read about Jayna Davis’ research & the fact that NBC shut her down, I knew the fix was in. I was already disgusted by the dishonest reporting of the crimes at Ruby Ridge & Waco, but it was the OKC-Murrah building cover-up that got me to turn off MSM for good.
I threw out the TV during the OJ trial. I haven’t watched anything since unless I was visiting friends and that’s what they were doing.

Stopped watching Sunday morning talk shows around 2005, as it became more clear Bush would not get a fair hearing.
Stopped watching (on a regular basis) Fox News after Brit Hume left Special Report.

Late ‘80s, I believe around 1988 or close to it. Tuned in to several of the channels from time to time during extraordinary events (eg 9-11, Gulf War, major disasters, Presidential election returns, Clinton impeachment, etc), but for all practical purposes, quit watching “mainstream” news outlets 99% of the time.
Watergate did it for me. 24/7
Sure a lot of Freepers have given up TV. I haven’t watched normal TV in about ten years, but I admit, I rent a lot of DVD’s.
About 1980 when I had to work the 2nd shift at work. I listened to it at times, but by 2000, I gave it up. Growing up, my parents had Walter Cronkite on while eating dinner and we discussed the issues on the news.
When I watched Broadcast News, although Network really put me on the path. So ‘87 ‘88.
