It seems like there's not many original ideas in Hollywood...how many remakes is there of Dracula or King Kong?
Yet, I'm sure there's got to be thousands of great books and stories that have never been made into a movie. Which fictional stories would you like to see as a movie?
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress would be wonderful. Most of the earlier Heinlein books would work well.

I’ve read about the Battle off Samar several times. Courage above and beyond the call of duty. I always love the part where the Japanese Destroyer goes slowly beside the sinking and burning American ship. And the Japanese saluted them. The Japs admired real bravery.

I thoroughly agree. The current Sunday night series by Roma Downey is, in my opinion, unbiblical and unwatchable. They had Thomas say, "My Lord!" Period. Not "My Lord and My God!" They lost me right there, although their poorly-focused scripting had already finished it for me. It's as though their project was for Jesus but not by Jesus.
There was a decent exploration 20+ years ago of Peter and Paul, by that name I believe, starring Foxworthy and Hopkins, but otherwise it's pretty barren. Hollywood's studios have long been run mainly by Jews, which explains a lot.
Sadly, Pilgrim's Progress has never been done well, which is ironic given its status as the greatly-loved all-time bestseller aside from the Bible itself. (I've always thought McCartney's The Long and Winding Road would be perfect during the credits at the end.) A good effort could reawaken interest in a classic's classic that is rapidly fading from awareness. Which reminds me: I re-read it every couple or three years, and I think it's high time again! Now, if I could just see it on the big-screen....

For example (not a Jack story), your dead brother owes mobster Benny "The Loon" DeMarco twenty large plus a weekly vigorish of a thou. . . and Benny has decided that since he had to kill your brother for non-payment, YOU have inherited the debt and the vigorish. . . and he has told you that if you don't pay, he's a gonna whack your eight your old kid. . . and he's serious.
Benny owns half the cops in town and even if you find one he doesn't own, the ones he does own will find out if you call 'em, and your kid's gonna be dead. Oh, and he's already got your kid.
So you call Repairman Jack, who will come up with a "fix" that will leave you owing nothing, your kid alive, and most times, the mob not knowing what hit them. . . and often without Jack having to kill anyone. He just arranges it so the bad guys sort of "accidentally" kill each other, sometimes in a really hilarious concatenation of events where two or more mutual enemies conveniently wind up in the same place at the same time.
There is a supernatural component to the books as the series develops.
One movie from the Repairman Jack universe, "The Keep", has already been made, without Jack. . . it's a "prequel" for one of the other characters that appears in the series.
Repairman Jack would make a great mini-series.

There are also three juvenile books about Jack as a teenager before he became the Repairman. . . and a set of three books about his life in New York as he learned his skills that made him an effective Repairman where he met his gun running friend who keeps him supplied with guns. . . who runs "Isher Sporting Goods". (love the reference to the Weapon Shops of Isher)

You’re right, it would be hard to figure out any coherent story line. Maybe just an animated life of Mohammed titled, “Terrorist for Prophet.”
I think Ender’s Game is on production as we speak.
