Mmmm, doesn’t make me shudder. It would appear to just be the stuff I searched for. Bit of a history of FR discussions and movies I watched. Don’t assume the public square is private and don’t search for anything embarrassing unless you’re well obfuscated.

There are more private search engines Ixquick, duckduckgo, start page, Tor web browser and many others. And another option you can use a proxy server to be anonymous

Actually, the company that knows your Internet searches the best is your Internet Service Provider. They can see all your Internet activity even better than Google can.

Wow! I quickly hit that delete from the beginning of time box. Nothing there anymore (not that it was really anything). I use Duckduckgo.com as my search engine.

I never, ever signed up for a Google account, though I do use Google Maps.

When Google bought YouTube, I dumped my YouTube account.

They have whatever they can attach to an IP, and that changes regularly.

I also use StartPage for searches rather than Google when possible.

I got a screen asking me to sign in with or create a Google account. That seemed counter productive so I just closed out.

How else did folks think it was able to be so predictive to do things like tell me how much time to home?

Nothing new here or anything to worry about, if you don’t want all the convenience don’t use the product.

I’m a medical transcriptionist and mostly just use Google for work to look up and verify the names and sizes of the new cardiac and orthopedic implants, catheters, tubes, drains and new drugs that are not in any of my Stedman’s word books among other medical terminology. Much of my job entails having to verifying things. Just because a doctor spells out the name of a surgical instrument or a new drug doesn’t mean it is the correct spelling. I laugh because Google must think I’m a hypochondriac.

Using the word “know” is a stretch. It’s a set of programs and data. It doesn’t “know” anything. Humans know. Computers store data that is used by humans.

I’m a translator, so my web searches depend on what I’m translating...which can be anything from a homicide report to something on money laundering to a financial analysis of some Latin American hell-hole leftist dictatorship. In several languages...So who knows what Google does with my stats?

In one month Obama will get his FCC to take over the Internet:

Obama and the FCC will shut down Drudge and freerepublic, and the Internet. I can’t believe even on this site people don’t seem to know or care what Obama is going to do to the Internet:

“FCC Commissioner: Feds May Come for Drudge [Isaiah 29]”
