The group Women on 20s says 600,000 voters chose the Maryland-born escaped slave and Underground Railroad conductor to appear on a $20
Tubman beat out Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt and Wilma Mankiller, the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation, in the final round of voting
Now the group intends to petition President Obama to encourage the treasury to make the first such change since 1929
A group campaigning to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with a woman has announced who they want that woman to be: Harriet Tubman.
Starting in March, the non-profit Women on 20s held two rounds of voting in which the conductor of the Underground Railroad claimed victory over 99 other trailblazing women including Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt and Wilma Mankiller, the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation.

What say we wait until Jan.2017 and petition President Cruz to have President Ronald Reagan's picture put on the $20 bill.
Oh, the exploding liberal heads would be fun to watch.
Ronald Reagan’s picture put on the $20 bill
Excellent!
Two-fer!
Two-fer!
Two-fer!
Two-fer!
Nothing wrong with Harriet Tubman as far as I can see. But interesting that they decide to replace Jackson, the President who hated central bankers with a purple passion, and knew exactly how they would loot the nation.
THAT’S who they decide to get rid of.
Putting JFK on the half dollar killed that coin. I guess I can get by without using $20s.
How could feminists not vote for a woman whose name was “Mankiller”?!?!?
And how many millions would this cost us? I’m for ditching the dollar bill, and just using the coins. A dollar bill last less than a year, the coins last darn near forever, and are not germ and virus ridden pieces of filthy paper.
I’m a cheapskate, I admit it! We have to stop throwing money around for senseless reasons like changing the 20 dollar bill, or teaching African men how to wash their weenies after sex. We’ve gone insane! We need to go on a severe austerity budget for at least ten years, maybe much longer!
Somebody please tell me why these idiots are suddenly picking on Andrew Jackson? Why the $20 bill?
Fine with me. Jackson was a slave owning democrat. Tubman was a former slave and abolitionist republican.
This is a ridiculous suggestion. Tumban was what we call an “achiever,” though she may only have rescued, according to historians, a handful of people. (Maybe 12.) Alas - what about Barack Obama? He is “Post-Achievement.” Barack is not only a civil rights leader as evidenced by his efforts at Ferguson, Baltimore, and on the Southern Border, etc., etc., he has also sacrificed himself for the cause of American Liberty and Justice, not only in his day-after-day lounges on couches, which he freely admits are used to observe the activities of the members of the National Basketball Association - his tireless efforts, and I could go on - most notably resulting in his receiving none other than a Nobel Peace Prize (effectively proving that he IS a post-American, enlightened, worldly President, and, on a personal note, overcoming a history of drug use, homosexuality, lying about his credentials, mysterious histories, abuse of power, supporting such things as the Born Alive Infant Protection Act which allowed babies already having been born, already crying and breathing, to escape suffocation in the linen closet... To have overcome these early sins, to have the courage to enact Executive Orders keeping us from knowing anything about Him, and become the President he is today, thanks to life-affirming Affirmative Action programs that gracefully, wisely keep qualified children such as mine from hitherto racist programs such as 1) Academia 2) Government and 3) (bane of America) Corporations and other businesses; Barack Obama is now not hust an American hero, the man who bows to foreign leaders and went down on Larry Sinclair... He’s MY President. OUR President. Not just a symbol of “Hope and Change,” as all the fans say, but truly, a beacon. Ask anyone!
His is as politically incorrect of a president as you could get. The entirety of the political left despises him, and thinks it will be an was kill to take him off the money because few Americans know anything about him.
Love that idea. How about on the back of the bill it shows a picture of a strong and glorious America with the words Reagan invoked of a “shining city on a hill”.
Some Indian casinos refuse twenty dollar bills because of Jackson’s picture...they still hold a grudge over the Trail of Tears episodes.
Simply the left’s latest tactic to further exploit the legacy of slavery.
"The Sacagawea Golden Dollar, (obverse designed by Glenna Goodacre), was first issued in 2000 as a replacement for the ill-received Susan B. Anthony dollar coin. "
Replace the picture of the man on the 20-dollar bill, and we’ll tighten the screws even faster against personal spending.
There shouldn’t be political activists of any type on our currency. It should have pictures of national monuments and sites only.
In the late '70s, the Army was paying us with some of these, a real pain in the arse.
I nominate Farrah Fawcett!
