NASA May Have Accidentally Created a Warp Field (MAY)

“Star Trek” introduced the world outside of rocket science circles to the concept of warp drive – the propulsion system that allowed the starship Enterprise to travel faster than the speed of light. Warp speed is the holy grail that would let us explore the universe safely surrounded and protected by a space-distorting warp field. After watching the SpaceX rocket recently just try to land on a platform, you’d think this ability is years if not decades away. Yet the buzz on space websites is that NASA may have accidentally discovered a way to create a warp field. Wait, what?

To get around the theory of relativity, physicist Miguel Alcubierre came up with the concept of a bubble of spacetime which travels faster than the speed of light while the ship inside of it is stationary. The bubble contracts spacetime in front of the ship and expands it behind it. The warp drive would look like a football inside a flat ring. The tremendous amount of energy it would need made this idea prohibitive until Harold “Sonny” White of NASA’s Johnson Space Center calculated that making the ring into a donut shape would significant reduce the energy needs.

Aren’t they related episodes?

Yes! I can see the spacetime bubble forming in the GEARS of the warp engine. I dunno, but I think it's because the Delryn gears decouple the bubble energy envelope and allows a space time continuum plasma to form at the tip of the nozzle. Fascinating stuff!

OH no! It’s not the GEARS! It’s the wooden support blocks for the engine. They decouple the space time continuum plasma from the rest of the universe using the ethereal mystique of Gaia.

How can this be used to help our Muslim brethren?

Well, if we can bend time, how about going back in time and electing Mike Ditka to the senate in Illinois...instead of our golfing King...

You don’t need dilithium silly, that’s just a gimmick they came up with to control a matter antimatter reaction as a power source. You could power the warp field generator any way but of course antimatter gets you the most bang for your buck.

But ... but ... When it comes to power source selection, doesn’t it make sense to use the one with the greatest potential for a universe ending cataclysm?

(Perhaps the current regime is visionary! They are conserving coal use on Earth in order to harness it as a cheap and safe method of field generation in outer space!)

So that’s the only problem with this idea, the amount of energy it will require?

Thjis story appeared on NASASpaceFlight.com back in April of '07. The engine pictured is a prototype electromagnetic (EM) propulsion drive, not a warp engine.

Original article here - worth the read for the state of the art in 2007:
NASA’s Futuristic EM Drive successfully tested in a hard vacuum

It is not necessary to read the article to know that the only thing NASA is trying to “warp” is it’s budget.

There is nothing that a budget-guarding politically-correct pack of bureaucrats can accomplish outside the confines of the physics of government.
