I remember the original outcry about it and subsequent media firestorm over the refusal to transplant. Obviously the hospital was being racist.

This useless pos got the heart transplant due to pressure from the Al Sharptons of the world and probably paid NOTHING for it. Easy come easy go.

You can go look. But it is what you suspected.

The ultimate “non-compliant” patient - basically on a self-destructive course most of his life, he could not put a second chance to work for himself even when given it.

Too bad - another patient probably could have put that heart to good use.

said he had been stereotyped as a troubled teen

There are reasons for “stereotypes”.
And “troubleD” is not what I’d “stereotype” him as.

I see no reason to waste a heart transplant on an aspiring criminal. And the only reason he got it was because of the current climate of kowtowing to anyone who cries “racism”.

They essentially condemned ANOTHER person to death by giving this little thug the heart transplant.

Hmmmm. My husband is a heart transplant recipient, going on five years. Before he could be placed on the transplant list, the battery of tests and intense psychological screening was daunting. I even had to be psychologically screened. I would suspect because he was a minor, there may be different guidelines, who knows but a complete waste of an organ. Interestingly, in speaking to the transplant team we work with, the number one cause of transplant failure/rejection is recipients failure to follow the medication regimen which is essential.

Less than two years ago, he was given a life-saving heart transplant He was initially denied the surgery because doctors said he had previously failed to take medication so would be 'non-compliant' with the treatment But they changed their minds following pressure from civil rights groups and the boy's family, who said he had been stereotyped as a troubled teen

Which news channel is going to ask Al Sharpton about this, I wonder.

Not to be morbid, but is anything of his, including the heart, in donatable shape? Should be mandatory to donate what they can from this guy.

When oh when is the racism ever going to end? When will come the day when blacks can commit crimes without being hassled by the police? Oh excuse me, the POH-leese.

And who paid the hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for this kid’s transplant and after care?

I have WSB's app on my phone and have been listening all morning. It seems as if this kid's been a worthless punk for some time and,as a result, the hospital didn't want to give him one. But,I suspect, after cries of "racism" he got one.

My cousin died while waiting for a heart/lung transplant. She was an outstanding woman.Respectable, decent, law abiding, loved by all who knew her.

So it can be assumed that a person with similar traits...male,female,black,white,young,old....was denied that heart so a filthy punk could kill it while fleeing the cops.

Nauseating.

Ah yes…the ubiquitous "second chance". In the days when I taught the children who flocked to our district when it became a "wonderful" school of choice, the most frequent refrain I heard daily was the plaintiff wail of "Caint I jes gets a secon chaince?!!" or "But you never gave me a chaince!" implying they were always entitled to one free pass every time they acted out or messed up before they got written up, or whatever the consequence happened to be.

So I chuckled when at the end of the article it said he was so pleased he was going to get his second chance.

Just think how different this story could have been...

Heart transplant recipient accused of murder during home invasion robbery gone wrong. Defense attorneys are seeking specialized medical care for youth clinging to life after a dramatic police chase and shootout. “This is a young teen who had constantly had to justify his existence to doubting authorities during his short life, and were it not for the loud social outcry, doctors would have let this boy die...”

Don't you just hate it when stereotypes turn out to be true?
