Image Consultants April 30, 2015
[You] have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.
Colossians 3:10
In our media-saturated age, image consultants have become indispensable. Entertainers, athletes, politicians, and business leaders seem desperate to manage the way they are perceived in the eyes of the world. These high-priced consultants work to shape how their clients are viewedeven if sometimes there is a stark contrast between the public image and the real person inside.
In reality, what people needwhat all of us needis not an external makeover but an inner transformation. Our deepest flaws cannot be corrected cosmetically. They are directly related to who we are in heart and mind, and they reveal how far we have fallen from the image of God in which we were created. But such transformation is beyond any human ability to accomplish.
Only Christ offers us true transformationnot just a facelift or an outward adjustment. Paul said that those who have been raised to eternal life in Christ have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him (Col. 3:10).
New! What a tremendous word full of hope! Christ transforms us into new people in Himpeople with a new heart, not just fixed up to look good on the outside.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
The Spirit develops in us the clear image of Christ.
: The letter to the Colossians is one of four epistles referred to as Pauls prison letters. Written during his first imprisonment (or house arrest) in Rome, these letters also include Ephesians, Philippians, and Philemon. All of the letters were written to churches except for the one written to Philemon, who was apparently a dear friend of Paul (Philem. 1:1,7). Paul founded the Ephesian and Philippian churches, but there is no record in the New Testament that Paul was ever in Colosse.

Rose Breasted Grosbeak
My first sighting ever of this truly beautiful bird was this week.
He was perched outside next to my bird feeder, resting for his trip north.
They winter in the tropics and summer in northern and NE states
Thanking God for this beautiful blessing.
Wishing You A Lovely Thankful Day

Happy Thankful Thursday!
I am SO grateful that a three year legal issue that has been plaguing my nephew (involving false arrest, false imprisonment, false accusation, a sham trial, vehicle and license loss, and myriads of other bad things) was THROWN OUT OF COURT BY A JUDGE WHO DISMISSED THE WHOLE THING AS RIDICULOUS! Many thanks to the FReepers who prayed with me over this issue for the last three years. Your prayers have been answered.

Meg and NnB, thank you so much for yesterday's opening.
Brought back memories of poems from a few years ago.
Thank you for all the memories
that I hold so dear in my heart,
and as time goes by new ones will form,
but the old shall never depart.

A Thirst for Life
I drank at life so thirstily,
I hardly paused to taste,
The sweet nectar of the essence,
Id consumed in so much haste.
Now that the glass is nearing,
The zenith of its rise,
I try to savor every drop,
And drink more with my eyes.
The world seems filled with rainbows,
With color everywhere,
And sparkling diadems that float,
As dust motes in the air.
Ive switched to slower motion,
To capture every glance,
I want to draw in ... Everything!
While there is still a chance.
I wonder what Ill see on,
That distant fateful morn,
The dawning sun will rise no more,
Nights curtain wont be torn.
No new things to enchant me,
Will memories too fail?
I will be travelling lightly,
With new seas yet to sail.
The waters I will journey,
Will seem immense and vast,
But they are only more of what,
Ive captured in my glass.
The liquid that refreshes me,
Will ease me when it goes,
The fire that warms me in my den,
Will yield to cooling snows.
With all these cycles turning,
There seems to be no end,
I will not fear what I may find,
Beyond the hidden bend.

Excuse
I wrote the greatest epic poem,
The world has ever seen.
I wrote a novel that was super,
Yes it was really keen.
I left my desk and I took a nap,
To clear my weary head.
When I returned the desk was a mess,
My best work they had shred.
The puppies tore my works to pieces,
My homework too they ate.
I missed the bus and I had to walk,
So to school I was late.
~Conspiracy Guy 6th Grade 1966.
Enjoy today as the last day of Poetry Month.

The Pumpkin Seed
It seems like such a tiny place, how could we all fit in?
Who knows? Lets all just climb aboard, and take it for a spin.
This isnt just a cottage. Its a magic place indeed.
Who would have thought that pumpkin could have been inside a seed?
When you enter Amys Place, its bigger in than out,
So step inside but dont forget to give your friends a shout.
The more we have attending here, the bigger it will get,
So just keep right on piling in, you aint seen nothin yet!

Hi Meg! I have not seen a rose breasted grosbeak yet. I did just today, see a rare sight here, a pair of brown thrashers. I just looked up the name to make sure it was not “brown thrush”. Sure enough, it is brown thrasher. They are pretty, with a longer tail section which makes them look elegant.
