If I showed you the CarFax on my JK, you would pay the price.....not that I’m sellin’.

I’ve no info on the Pentastar V6, 3.6, as I have the older 3.7 V6....with 120K trouble-free miles.

Find a pre ‘11 3.7 with a CarFax report, and give it to your Bride....and hand her off to me if Ya have to beg.

Yes, they are easy to roll, but knowing that makes it easy to avoid as well. I’ve driven them over numerous obstacles that modern SUVs (including Humvees) would never be able to navigate. They weren’t made for slalom racing on paved roads, but they really don’t roll from 4 wheeling...

Actually, for a short time they sold the 5 and 7 together. Don’t remember the time frame but it was a few years. My buddy sold Jeeps, Chrysler, AMC and Dodge at that time and he told me they killed the 5 because of the liability. And they damn sure would roll!

Speaking of AMC. What P.O.S’s were they? Course a lot of American cars were P.O.S. then.

When, in 1994, I bought my 1980 Jeep it had a real nice paint job. I made the mistake of parking it in the pasture with a cribbing horse. The next day there were scratches all over the hood where the horse had tried to get a bite with it’s teeth and pull down leaving lots of deep scratches in the paint.

Those don’t bother me either way.

Glad you like. I turned off smugmug due to budget and lack of interest. Scaled down little ones are good enough for photobucket.

The black one is not too far off from new tires and a 2 inch lift. Also the steering box is worn - Willys Wobble. Those are on the upcoming service trip to the guys. I’m just one guy in the burbs with no real facilities but a fair amount of experience and know how though.

With warmer weather and daylight, I am finally going to get on the horse and get that CJ7 prepped as I can before serious engine work. I knew the engine had a problem when I bought it. It’s locked.

It had been on CL for a couple of months. The guy told me plenty of people came by and asked about but never heard from any of them. Odds are the spouses shot it down in a lot of cases.

I bought it and have it stored elsewhere. At least its rent free, plenty of people around who know the building and owner and a very close proximity to the local PD. They take their breaks there a lot. No power though. Building was decommed years ago.

That old blazer which came before either of them lives there too. I’m also not really in shape to do my own work plus keeping the spouse happy is a drag too.

I’ve been a multi-jeep owner for 26 years.

I love the CJs and the Cherokees from ‘87 on.

The stuff they are presently selling is pure crap!

The Patriot, and Liberty are Front wheel drive, and cheap and flimsy. The Jeeps that made them a name really don’t even exist anymore. The toys that they make in place of the old CJ can’t even pass the Rubicon without help from sombody else’s winch! They are way too wide for off-road use; all hat and no cattle.

‘06 Unlimited here. 2” lift, 33” tires, traklock in back and auto locker front. 12000 lb. winch. 1500 watt inverter so I can run tools away from home. This is my third Jeep and I will never be without one.

I tried it in a chevy truck non 4 wheel and did not make it back in 1973.

We need to have screen writer in Hollywood make a move about your life.

12000 lb. winch I need one of those. What bumper did you get? Or did you stay with stock and modify?

The little fwd guys are basically an artifact of the federal CAFE fuel econ laws. Without averaging in those roller skates, they wouldn’t be allowed to sell the real ones.

Yes....I am a Bastard;-). I owned that craft for four years. Sold to an ANG pilot from Mountain Home Arkansas; duty station Ft. Smith. I know her damage history, and have a copy of the logs...until 2008.

She’s a great bird; 150 knots at 9gph. If I can get it for 40K I’ll probably put a zero time reman in. I won’t get my money back out of it, but it would last the rest of my flying life.

Stock bumper. When I bought the winch I worked where I had access to all sorts of metal fab toys. I drew up my own mounting plate on Autocad, cut it out on the water jet and welded it together. Man I miss that job!

Rigs with a wide track have to stay on the pavement!

Off-road, the old narrow CJs were king because they could travel almost anywhere.

The recent “Rubicon” model is so wide that it needs a super highway. They look like fun, but they are really a trailer with a motor in it.

To: Ruy Dias de Bivar; All

I had a 1986 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.

Big V8, literally the truck you couldn’t kill, or stop. 4 South Bend Winters, two in Toronto, and one in Windsor. Wouldn’t get stuck, even in the biggest blizzards.

Drove it until I traded it at 422,000 miles for a Suburban. HUGE MISTAKE.

Speaking of AMC. What P.O.S’s were they?

I rescued a 77 CJ7 When it was only 4 years old. The sheet metal was already rusted through around the fenders. The body was soon replaced with fiberglass.

Drive train is still all original and running. Factory six, GM TH400 automatic transmission (the same used in GM motorhomes at the time!) and full time four wheel drive. Not a lot of miles on it, I use it for running the back roads. Highway running is a challenge because of the short wheelbase and narrow track axles. I never upgraded the six, it has plenty of power for off road use but not enough to destroy the rest of the drive train.

I'd say It was worth the money just for the fun!

I call them throw-away cars.

The only thing Jeep about them is the name plates.

You remind me of how hard life sometimes is.
