Sarah Palin's getting a new son-in-law! Bristol Palin is engaged to her boyfriend, Sgt. Dakota Meyer. The bride-to-be announced the happy news via Instagram on Saturday, Mar. 14.
"Truly the luckiest girl in the world, cannot wait to marry this man!!!!" Palin, 24, captioned an Instagram pic of the couple kissing. In a second photo, she gave a closer look at her gorgeous cushion-cut diamond engagement ring....

Wow! I recall reading about Dakota Meyer on FR, and reading the articles to my kids. IIRC he is the one that didn’t want to receive it - but then was convinced by others that it wasn’t just for him - but all of the other brave men that he fought with that didn’t survive.

Here’s an article from 2011. Another guy with him (Swenson) later received one also. Meyer had been ordered not to go in to help. After waiting a bit and hearing more calls for help he ignored the orders and made several trips to rescue the guys.
Ignoring what is the conventional thinking, and doing the right thing, consequences be damned. Sounds like he’ll fit in with the Palin family.
Long before the end of this coming week approaches, I expect the media to beat a path to 1st Husband Levi’s home, and ask him ‘what he thinks’ about Bristol’s engagement. The reporter will sit there arm extended holding a microphone, desperately hoping for some hot venom from her ex. Levi is probably glad, so Bristol will be less likely to keep asking him to provide child support. Try again, media.
Such a beautiful couple. I had no idea they were even dating..so happy for them both. Dakota is an American Hero and Bristol is a sweetheart..wishing them both health and happiness!!!

I don’t think they ever actually married. They were engaged because she was pregnant and then split up. At least that’s what I recall.
