Astronomers believe mysterious signals - previously dismissed as stellar bursts - are coming from an Earth-like planet.
The Gliese 581d planet has conditions that could support life, and is likely to be a rocky world, twice the size of Earth.
Signals from the planet were initially discovered in 2010, but last year dismissed as noise from distant stars.

They say planet does exist and may provide hope for finding alien life
finding at 22 million light years away could be rather problematic but no matter....THERE’S HOPE!!....
22 or 22 million?
ahahahahah whichever....those light years are pretty formidable foes to making inter stellar friends ...at any rate
given that distance any signals we are getting could have been..”beamed from” said plane could have bought the farm light years ago
And they probably have invented some music that’s even worse than dubstep.

Just signals from Hillary’s email server there
The “mysterious signals” may be distress calls from the Glieseans after they’ve discovered the existence of Hillary and were overcome with fear that she will find her way to the planet Gliese to plague them.
My cats just scattered... that was indeed bad.
The message was sent to "Your Leader" but he hasn't seen anything about it on TV yet.
Twice the size of earth meaning greater gravity? They’ll kick our arses in the interstellar Olympics.
Being an amateur radio operator, I wonder what frequency these signals are. VHF? UHF? SHF? (microwaves)
How long would it take “I Love Lucy” to reach this planet?
Oh I dunno...I kinda dig this dubstep dance performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Rot9uaVO8s
I ran the signal through my universal translator. Here it is.
“Muskrat Suzie and Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug down in Muskrat Land”
We’re doomed.
Why does everyone say that a planet has to be somewhat similar to Earth in order to have alien life?
If our life came about due to chance mixing of available materials, then shouldn't that happen anywhere with any available chemicals?
Around once a month, if I put my left ear to the pillow directly, I will hear what sounds just like a TV or radio in another room. Too faint to make out individual words but definitely something there.
Last time, I finally said to myself that I must have left the TV on. I got up and nothing was turned on.
My nearest neighbor is over a quarter mile away so I am pretty sure it is not them. On the other hand, sometimes when I sit on my front porch, I can hear conversations from that nearest neighbor if they are outside. Clear enough that I can sometimes make out the words. There is clearly some kind of sonic reflection from that direction.
It really is a mystery.
It's easier, as those who've been following this study for any length of time, to detect the almost unimaginably massive "rocky" worlds that orbit their stars in three days, rocky airless worlds like Mercury the width of Jupiter's atmosphere and ten times closer to their star.
In short, they're getting better at this game, like a blind man gets better and better learning how to negotiate his way around a familiar neighborhood, still there's an upper limit, distance being a huge factor with Sun-like stars, for an obvious example.
And they still can't be absolutely certain that Proxima Centauri is orbiting Alpha A and B.
They have discovered the Planet Mongo.
