Japanese have these interesting sanctuaries including rabbit and islands. I read about the Soviets did some experiments on domesticating foxes. Were they successful or could not make it all the way like cats and dogs?

Apparently, the tourists can come feed these foxes about 25 times a day.
They are all little blimps. FAT NASTY OVERWEIGHT WHEEZING FOXES.
I hate them.

They should do this at Fushimi Inari shrine. I went their countless times when I lived in Kyoto.

We have foxes in our neighborhood. We’ve only seen them a few times, slipping through the yard. Very pretty. I just hope they don’t decide to make a meal of one of our cats.

Domesticated Silver Foxes
"The domesticated silver fox (marketed as the Siberian fox) is a domesticated form of the silver morph of the red fox. As a result of selective breeding, the new foxes became tamer and more dog-like."
"The result of over 50 years of experiments in the Soviet Union and Russia, the breeding project was set up in 1959[1] by Soviet scientist Dmitri Belyaev. It continues today at The Institute of Cytology and Genetics at Novosibirsk, under the supervision of Lyudmila Trut."
