Sarah Palin Slips into Self-Parody
National Review ^ | January 26, 2015 | Charles C. W. Cooke

Posted on 01/26/2015 6:22:08 PM PST by MinnesotaLibertarian

Skipping to the end:

...

Consider, if you will, what happens to a person who suggests that Sarah Palin is anything other than saintly. Right off the bat, they are accused of disliking America or Alaska or conservatives or mothers or the working class — or even women in general — and then they are informed that their “hatred” is showing. Next, their motives are questioned and their supposedly secret “agenda” is exposed for the world to see, for no right-thinking person could dislike Palin on the merits, natch. “I hope you enjoy your elite cocktail parties,” the apologists will say, and then they will huffily tell you that they “hope signaling that you are ‘one of them’ was worth it.” And finally — as is the case when one expresses disapproval of other cult figures, such as President Obama, Ron Paul, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and Paul Krugman — it is presumed that all animadversion must be motivated by envy or by snobbery or by secret admiration, and that it can therefore be safely ignored. “What have you done,” they will ask, “that compares to my paragon of virtue?” All told, it’s really quite pathetic.

...

Having been mercilessly and unjustly pilloried by the media throughout the 2008 campaign, Sarah Palin had a clear choice in its aftermath: She could sober up and prove the buggers wrong, or she could collapse into ignominious pasquinade. Sadly, she chose the latter. The rest of us should choose to move on.

Yep, Chamber of Commerce special!

Walker would accelerate the correction of the US victory over Mexico in short order.

He must be an honorary member of La Raza.

Listening to Palin’s speech reminded me of seeing Bob Dylan a few years ago. He was horrible!!!! Mumbled and sputtered. Couldn’t make a thing out of anything he was singing, or even recognize tunes, but the audience was loving it like they were listening to God himself. If you would look at Palin’s speech with objectivity, you’d feel the same way about her speech, that I felt about Dylan’s performance.

If she wants to be the candidate, she had better work on her A-game and not expect to coast on her past.

I would like to see her elected too. But, she has a long way to go to get broad support outside of the base.

He also knew that people who were supposed to be conservatives would continue to be willing lackeys of those on the left that wanted to destroy her.

Can you think of anyone that might fill that description at FR?

Wow, well we know where National Review stands don’t we? Haha.

Palin isn’t my first choice, or even my second (Walker, then Cruz in that order). But I can guarantee you I’d vote for her over Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, or even Ron Paul (excuse me RAND Paul).

I’ll bet the National Review wouldn’t go that far. After all, lots of illegals to suddenly magically make legal in their minds. You betcha.

She has not declared herself a candidate yet, that would be the first step.

And she won't declare, but will keep teasing at it. It's a way to keep her supporters interested while she promotes reality shows, books, speeches, etc.

In other words, 2012 all over again.

For me, asking someone to think twice is a short way of asking someone to actually ponder something deeply.

I'm sorry you want to be glib and ignore what was said.

Good luck when they pull the same "unelectable" meme on the candidate you want, because they will, and at this point it will work. Until we stop the circular firing squad on our best, they'll continue to use the phrase, and useful idiots on the right will continue to join in. Breitbart saw it, I'm sorry you don't.

” One person could put a stop to this liberalism. Instead, the liberalism continues unfettered, destroying conservatism a little more each day.”

Well, the FReeper liberals are out in full force today. One joker said we need Rubio to win, because he can carry Florida. I don’t care if Rubio figures out a way to have sexual intercourse with Florida. He is a traitor to the USA.
I have never seen such an aggregation of liberal beasts running under the “R’ label in my 60 years!

I didn’t think Romney, or McCain, or Dole were electable either. But, I voted for them all. Reagan too. Does that tell you anything?

It tells me you have yet to see through the sucker's game you're playing of willingly voting for more government tyranny while claiming you're voting "against" it and then complaining that you were "forced" to vote for it.

I voted for Reagan, McCain, and Dole. By the time Romney came around, I had woken up. YOU are still slumbering, and your words tell me that.

Sarah Palin has earned the right. She has paid her dues. I resent the hell out of spineless conservatives that won't have her back when she has had ours.

Amen!

You must rather I voted for the full blown Democrat. Please tell me who an alternative was in those years that had even a possibility of winning. There were none. I was not going to stay home. Unfortunately, it was the lesser of two evils. Except for Reagan.

Sure, there are many firebrands who want to throw in
their hat in 2016. Let’s find someone who can appeal to more than just the base. That’s all we’ve had. That’s all we have now... Liberals are in a week position now. Hopefully, that can be capitalized on.

Let’s find someone who can appeal to more than just the base.

Let's find someone who has appealing ideas that coincides with "the base", supposing the base you refer to is of the tea party variety aka grassroots conservatives. That's what Reagan did. He had a message, an agenda, a set of ideals that was very appealing to the majority of Americans and he SOLD it!

The wet noodle candidates of the GOP-e don't have that message because they don't believe in the message. They are doomed to fail straight out of the box. They have no core beliefs that resonate with the base.

Someone like Sarah Palin does. She has a message, an agenda and a set of principles that once properly and forcefully conveyed would win over countless voters eager to join a new revival of the America they believe in. Reagan did that, so could Palin. It will be "the base" that makes it happen, not the GOP-e.

A person has to believe in the cause in order to make it happen. Whatever the mind of a man/woman can see and believe, he/she can achieve.

“Well, the FReeper liberals are out in full force today.”

And why would that be? That would be because they have an unrestricted platform to promote liberalism and divide/destroy conservatism from within the very heart of conservatism.

Eventually people will start wondering why. Because it is what it is. Fighting liberalism does not mean letting it run wild and giving it an audience.
