Skipping to the end:

Consider, if you will, what happens to a person who suggests that Sarah Palin is anything other than saintly. Right off the bat, they are accused of disliking America or Alaska or conservatives or mothers or the working class or even women in general and then they are informed that their hatred is showing. Next, their motives are questioned and their supposedly secret agenda is exposed for the world to see, for no right-thinking person could dislike Palin on the merits, natch. I hope you enjoy your elite cocktail parties, the apologists will say, and then they will huffily tell you that they hope signaling that you are one of them was worth it. And finally as is the case when one expresses disapproval of other cult figures, such as President Obama, Ron Paul, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and Paul Krugman it is presumed that all animadversion must be motivated by envy or by snobbery or by secret admiration, and that it can therefore be safely ignored. What have you done, they will ask, that compares to my paragon of virtue? All told, its really quite pathetic.
...
Having been mercilessly and unjustly pilloried by the media throughout the 2008 campaign, Sarah Palin had a clear choice in its aftermath: She could sober up and prove the buggers wrong, or she could collapse into ignominious pasquinade. Sadly, she chose the latter. The rest of us should choose to move on.

I expressed a personal opinion. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Usually when people suggest that others “think twice” before saying something, it usually comes from a liberal trying go silence others they don’t agree with. But, You obviously don’t fit that category. OK. I thought twice. I dont think she can be elected, but I will still vote for her if she is nominated.
OK?
“This forum is full of threads with lively debates about the best way to advance conservative principles. I know theres a lot of people on the site who support her, but I think shes a poor choice for conservatives, so I decided to share that opinion by posting an article that I felt articulated that point well...”

I’m for TED CRUZ in 2016 — heart and soul and I think he will win the general election in a landslide if he gets the Republican nomination. But that doesn’t mean I feel a compulsion to begin taking shots at other TRUE constitutional conservatives such as Sarah Palin and Scott Walker. It appears that you are drifting in the wind in search of “your” favored candidate for 2016. Even though you have apparently ruled out Sarah Palin for what you consider “electability” issues, there’s no need to join the PDS crowd and begin taking shots.
If you really are a conservative, save your ammunition for the ‘RATS and the RINOs and the faux conservatives.
LMAO. Now I’m concerned. Really concerned. I think I’ll go worry about my concern about Palin distractors being all concerned.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that I’m concerned that you are concerned. ;^)
Its crazy that a speech determines who becomes President..I didn’t hear Sarah’s speech(I promise I will watch it tomorrow) so I have no idea if it wasn’t good or not, and even if it wasn’t, so what..people have good days and bad days..perhaps that speech wasn’t the best that she has given in the past, but I had no idea that speeches determine who becomes President..its a speech, one of a thousand other speeches that will be delivered between now and 2016..its just crazy how people find ways to trash this woman. Nothing she does is good enough, for anyone..she can give a super awesome speech and someone will find fault in it. Unless she said something totally outrageous that boggles the mind, then forgot about it. She had just given a speech the night before in Vegas, she can’t always be “On.” But the haters will always find something to trash her about so I wouldn’t be concerned at all about it and I doubt Sarah is concerned about it either
Please don’t tell my parents I subscribed to Reason and National Review!
They think I edit “Beaver Hunt” at Hustler magazine.
Heh. Libertarians.
Honest to God, I had to stop and look it up. I am not expressing an opinion on the story, but one has to ask where the hell he came up with that comment and word. I hope he doesn’t actually speak like that.
Agreed. She wasn’t prepared. She hadn’t prepared. It appeared she really didn’t care either.
Fair enough. I am happy to agree to disagree. Have a good night.
Funny how GOP bots always think they're invisible to us, isn't it?
So Romney’s going to beclown himself again, eh?
Only this time, losing to Shrillery?
I had go look up ignominious pasquinade too. There, I’ve used it 3 times. Its part of my vocabulary now too. I get a kick out of arcane speech.
Spiro Agnew was great at that kind of speech. My favorite quote from him was when he called anti war protesters,” An effete corp of impudent snobs.” He also liked to use the word “nabob.” I looked that one up but don’t remember what it means. It just looks interesting.
Quitting as gov wasn’t a good career move.
Very good points here. Applies to FR because bandwagoning is so strong here. It is indeed anti-conservative to put personality over principal, and that happens a lot here.
Sarah has made dishonestly bad choices.
Breitbart died before Palin started making bad decisions.
MinnesotaLibertarian clearly has an agenda and is not simply a freeper taking part in talk and discussion.
Exposed he is.
That pretty much sums up my feelings too. I really do wish that Sarah Palin had completed the full 4 yr term of her governorship. I understand the family considerations, but with her ‘spunk’ and ‘determination’ not to let the ‘evil ones’ win, it kind of didn’t make sense not to finish things out. She was going to make money afterwards too, so not sure if it was the ‘money’ angle for all the legal hassle she was undergoing against the lib sharks back in 2008-09.
Nattering nabobs of negativism.
Who doesn’t love that!
Agree exactly with you. In 2012 I was ready - I gave her plenty of $ - she was definitely running after the Americana video she put out for July 4. And then she wasn’t, giving the excuse of the same family she had had the weeks earlier.
3/4 of Americans are sure she is an idiot. She’s not. But they all are sure she is. The press successfully killed her ability to run for office.
And she has made so many choices toward fame and attention to herself without putting the country first. She looked like what we needed. She isn’t. I still agree with her politically.
The hardest thing to do is to accept feet of clay in famous people once liked. See Bill Cosby.
