A 68-year-old Ukrainian grandmother has been nicknamed ‘The Punisher’ after completing a gruelling military training alongside army cadets four decades her junior.
Footage from the army’s training camp shows pensioner Ekaterina Bilyik rolling over snow-covered fields, leaping to her feet and firing assault rifles alongside the young men in her troop.
She is now preparing to take part in the fierce fighting that has torn eastern Ukraine apart.

I live in Ukrainian Village, a neighborhood in Chicago. Many of the families have relatives back in the Ukraine. They know all too well the sorry state of that country - poor GDP, corrupt government, negligible military budget, antiquated equipment, and poorly-trained conscripts. The Ukraine will need all the help it can get, even from Granny.
One of my great grandfather’s cousins volunteered to fight the Germans in 1941, at the age of 68. has desperate as they were russians said to him, “grandpa, go home.” he had fought in World War 1, which war started when he was 41, and he insisted that he would fight ends this work. Finally, they made him a driver for a general since he already knew how to handle small arms. Later that year, he saved the general from drowning by dragging him halfway across a big river after the Luftwaffe shot the bridge out from under them. Don’t mess with some geezers, they will rip out your heart and eat it in front of your eyes.
Dear god, these Uke stories are almost carbon copies of WWII red army stuff. It’s kind of funny really because they don’t even know how it looks elsewhere. Are they printing up the old posters too?
