Well, not really. But maybe!
Can you marry your cousin? It's an interesting question.
In some states, YES, you CAN marry your first cousin! In other states - it's a no-no, forbidden.
Now HOW and WHY was this state of affairs (or marriages, be it whatever) allowed to exist? How and why did states HAVE THE RIGHT to determine under what conditions marriage was allowable?
Because it was RECOGNIZED by the federal government that equal protection WAS NOT VIOLATED by such marriages!
Thoughts? Ideas?
(btw, my cousin is kind of cute, but she's just not my type...) ;-)
You from West(by God) Virgina, by chance?
They look a lot like the muslim nut jobs that killed Hebdo.
I’m still laughing on that one.
The government hardly seriously goes after polygamists nowadays anyways, a lot of these groups also see themselves as not part of the U.S. even though they live within U.S. territory. Go figure, because if a general tea partier is more dangerous then one of these people who blatantly consider themselves not Amerocan, we really are living in Bizarro World.
You from West(by God) Virgina, by chance?
I think it’s West, by God, stand up, smile when you say it, Virginia.
IIRC
Dang. Just dang.
You can marry anyone or anything or any number that you want.
The Supreme Court has no problem with it and it will make Obamacare easier to implement if you have many spouses.
Don’t worry about the genetics thing. We are going out of existence as a country and as a culture, so enjoy yourself while it’s happening. You can abort any undesirable outcomes of your incest in the near term.
BTW - FDR married his cousin.
That poor girl must give her pedicurists aneuyrisms when she goes in for a pedi.
IMHO, most people have enough sense in their heads not to have children with their cousins. Plus the other factor: Arranged Marriage, isn’t the way any more.
This is HORRIFYING. From USA Today, so ...
“Some mention the muslim world. In many countries cousin marriage is the norm.”
One result is a HUGE incidence of diabetes.
From the WSJ...
“Roughly one in five people has diabetes in the Persian Gulf region, according to doctors and the International Diabetes Federation, or IDF, and three countriesKuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatarare in the top 10 nations globally for the highest prevalence of the disease. The other seven places are all taken by tiny islands in the Pacific Ocean, while Bahrain sits at position 12, the United Arab Emirates is 15 and Egypt is at 17.”
Will Tinactin work for Athlete’s Web?
What’s bad is they give a “genetics” excuse for incest.
Sound familiar?
In Pakistan, 50% of marriages are to first cousins
Okay time to take the teeth out and pass em to the next person!
I have a friend whose daughter married her 1st cousin. And another friend ( in another state) who has a friend who married her cousin.
I’m a little uncomfortable with marrying your cousin. I have a feeling it happens more often than people realize.
It's illegal in Arkansas. Where are you from?
Used to be people never moved more than ten miles away from their small isolated villages. Lots of cousin marrying going on for millenia.
