Donna Douglas -- who famously portrayed Elly May Clampett on the legendary 60s TV series "The Beverly Hillbillies" -- passed away Thursday at her home in Louisiana with friends and family by her side.
Douglas' granddaughter confirmed the death to TMZ.
Donna starred on "The Beverly Hillbillies" for all nine seasons and even returned for the 1981 reunion TV movie.
Or a field marshal?
And the Hillbillies characters were, in turn, based on characters in Al Capp's "Li'l Abner" comic strip. The whole cornpone comedy genre has its stock characters.

Colonel Blake: Jethro, fortunately we take into consideration the amount of formal education a boy has had, and we grade on the curve, so you are eligible to join.
Jethro Bodine: Hey, that’s swell!
Colonel Blake: However, before I administer the oath, there are a couple of things I’d like to discuss with you.
Jethro Bodine: Yes, sir?
Colonel Blake: Now, let’s take your application, you’re going to be filling out a lot of other forms and I want to give you a tip.
Jethro Bodine: Thank ya!
Colonel Blake: Name, address, date of birth, that’s okay, but Jethro, where it says sex: write ‘male’, not ‘oh, boy!’
Jethro Bodine: [Embarrassed] I’m sorry.

And Jethreen, mustn’t forget her.
Always loved the episode where Granny shoots down an oil company helicopter that was hovering over the old homestead. One of the survivors is a good looking guy and Ellie asks if she can keep him. LOL.
Just Damn
In some respects, hard not to. Gotta give max Baer credit to dress up in drag. At least the voice was dubbed.
Haha! Did you see the one where the jet full of passengers got swept into the past and they showed the dinosaurs out the plane window? It was great!
She’ll put your eye out.
I updated him in 42.
He is in his 70s.
Sorry to hear this. RIP
RIP Donna. I hope you had a wonderful life.
...I always figured “the Darlins” from Andy Griffith were the inspiration for “Larry, Darryl and Darryl” from the old Newhart Show.......
Rest in peace. I met her once.
RIP and may Jesus welcome her home.
loved her on that show. also a childhood throb of mine, like so many boys from the 60s... and Jethro was quite funny occassionally..
love how he used to say, “I’m good at Cypher’in... Naught plus naught, equals naught...
etc... funny stuff.... Loved Mr Drysdale’s son also ... he was quite funny.
Jethro was a math genius who got me through junior high math.
“Uncle Jed, those naughts don’t mean nuthin’ by themselves. But you put some after a number, and they add up to a whole bunch!”
Thanks to Jethro, I was able to be cool with the hippie kids, by teaching them how to smoke crawdads.
I met her once, when I was a child.
