Donna Douglas -- who famously portrayed Elly May Clampett on the legendary 60s TV series "The Beverly Hillbillies" -- passed away Thursday at her home in Louisiana with friends and family by her side.
Douglas' granddaughter confirmed the death to TMZ.
Donna starred on "The Beverly Hillbillies" for all nine seasons and even returned for the 1981 reunion TV movie.
She donated a lot of time to various causes, including raising money for some kids with cancer in my hometown in Oklahoma. She was a super nice Southern lady who cared about people.
She will be missed.
Jethro Bodine [with the dog] is still alive ... in his 70s so he was younger. Max Baer Jr.
TV was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun back in those days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knew Jed and Ellie were pretty smart folks.
I thought both shows were funny. I liked Petticoat Junction, too. I still watch them when I can find them.
Yes, Ellie mae. I did want to “wrassle” with you.
Me too. Along with Barbara Eden and some more.
I thought the same about Miss Jane. It was between her and Alice on Brady Bunch. Yowza! /s
I remember seeing a picture of her several decades after The Beverly Hillbillies. She did not age well.
IIRC, she worked with animals after her acting career.
Too bad. She was a very nice woman.
very likely part of the inspiration for Daily Duke......
Loved ya Ellie May, see ya on the other side,
RIP Ellie May. Only one left of the team is Max Baer, Jr.
I patterned my life after the teachings of Jethro Bodine. ....
Me too!
I “grad-ge-ated” the sixth grade. Only took three years.
lol!
[[CBS thought that Beverly Hillbillies was not sophisticated enough for the “hip” audience it wanted to attract]]
Beverly Hillbillies was replaced by a more sophisticated show that featured “Meathead” and toilets loudly flushing upstairs.
81?????!!! I feel soooo old!
RIP Ellie Mae. You were the hottest hillbilly of all!
Loved Green Acres. I still ‘get allergic’ when I see what passes for entertainment today. Admittedly, there are some good shows today, but others; what were they thinking?
Green Acres introduced me to my first ‘snake oil salesman’ in Mr. Haney., my fictional next door elderly neighbor in Mr. Ziffel., and Eva, the Beautiful Bimbo, with a good heart.
Born-again Christian lady who spoke at many Christian fellowships in the past decade or two. Not the same as her image on TV. Sincere believer in Jesus Christ as Lord.
Were you a double naught spy?
