A Deadly Weapon
March 2, 2015
Read:
Nehemiah 4:1-10 | Bible in a Year:
Numbers 26-27; Mark 8:1-21
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali used several ring tactics to defeat his opponents; one tactic was taunting. In his fight with George Foreman in 1974, Ali taunted Foreman, Hit harder! Show me something, George. That dont hurt. I thought you were supposed to be bad. Fuming, Foreman punched away furiously, wasting his energy and weakening his confidence.
Its an old tactic. By referring to Nehemiahs efforts at rebuilding the broken wall of Jerusalem as nothing more than a foxs playground (Neh. 4:3), Tobiah intended to weaken the workers with poisonous words of discouragement. Goliath tried it on David by despising the boys simple weapons of a sling and stones (1 Sam. 17:41-44).
A discouraging remark can be a deadly weapon. Nehemiah refused to surrender to Tobiahs discouragements, just as David rejected Goliaths diabolical teasing. Focusing on God and His help rather than on their discouraging situations, David and Nehemiah both achieved victory.
Taunting can come from anybody, including those who are close to us. Responding to them negatively only saps our energy. But God encourages us through His promises: He will never forsake us (Ps. 9:10; Heb. 13:5), and He invites us to rely on His help (Heb. 4:16).
Lord, its easy to let discouragement sap my energy
and joy. Help me to reject all agents of
discouragement in my life and to trust in You for comfort and strength.
If youre in a tunnel of discouragement, keep walking toward the Light.
: Despite the taunting that the Israelites faced from multiple sources when rebuilding the walls and city of Jerusalem, they had courage and confidence in God. They had returned to Jerusalem just as God had promised through the prophet Jeremiah (Jer. 29:10).

Good morning, Dear Friends.
I not sure whether cherry trees are in bloom here or not, but
the almonds, peaches, nectarines and plums are in full bloom.
Wishing you a lovely week.
Northern and Southern California received a good rain over the weekend.
San Joaquin Valley? ... Sporatic due to thunderstorms.
Rain in San Francisco and Los Angeles does nothing for the Valley Farmers.
LA's rain runs into the ocean.
The enviro-nazis are determined to destroy the Valley's agriculture industry.
Local farmers are getting no Federal water. It's going to save the smelt.
Though local farmers are paying irrigation taxes, water is being denied to them.
Okay, Okay .... I will get off my soapbox this morning.
Have a great day.

They have ruined miles of farm land. Very sad.
Try to have a good day!

Thanks for understanding, SJB. So many are unaware of what our government is doing to its citizens with all the regulations that are going into effect.
The people enacting these regulations are not elected; they are appointed and the citizens have no say. Many farm workers, both legal and illegal, are out of work and receiving food stamps. Looking forward to the day when they realize what the liberals are doing to them.

Our tulips are coming up but not blooming yet, which is a good thing since we’ve had so many ice storms!

Hi there! I hate the Enviro-Nazis too.
Sunny and cold here (20) with snow on the way tonight. There is a -5 in our future this week.
Yes it is March. LOL.
Hey at least there’s only 2 more years of Obamination left! COL (crying out loud!).
Take care everyone!

Joining you in COL.
We must join the fight. Time to rid Congress of the liberals from both parties.

Our daffodils are a good size but not blooming yet. Maybe next week.
Have a great Monday, Luv.
We have no ice but did have some cold weather in January and early February. Hope summer doesn’t arrive too early.

We all want clean air and clean water but these people are determined to turn this valley into a desert.
I’m happy we no longer farm. It has always been a gamble but now the cards are stacked against us.
I hate the liberals!!! They think they know what is best for us. They want to control us!
