Stabbing suspect says he’s a pirate from 1776

A man accused of stabbing a supermarket worker with a pair of scissors told police he was a pirate from 1776.

Police say they arrested Joseph Pradel after he stabbed Jacque Vino, an employee at Weis Market in Plains Township, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday.

And according to police, who say Pradel was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time, the suspect told them that he was a pirate who had come to America on the Santa Maria in 1776.

When asked if he regretted his alleged actions by a WNEP reported, Pradel replied:

‘Nah.’

Court papers say Mr Vino was stocking shelves early in the morning when he noticed Pradel with a pair of scissors in each hand. Investigators say the employee then starting following Pradel, who suddenly turned around and stabbed him in the shoulder and arm.

Arriving police said they took four officers to pin Pradel down.

‘I am shocked. I am shocked at what happened,’ said Susan Broody, a regular customer at Weis.

Blimey, I thought Pearl Harbor was retaliation for our attack on Cuba during the missile crisis. I think it was Sherman's March to Havana, or something like that, on December 6th, 1941, a date that will live in infamy. The next day, the Cubans launched their attack on Pear Harbor. Am I in the ball park?
