Earlier today, it seemed like #BlackStormtrooper might actually eclipse #BlackFriday as a trending topic. Thats because the official trailer that aired Friday for the next film in the Star Wars sagaThe Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams and scheduled for release in December 2015opens on a black man wearing a stormtroopers uniform.
The man, who is played by John Boyega (of Attack the Block), pops into view perspiring and panting hard. He is surrounded by desert: in all likelihood the rolling dunes of Tatooine, the homeworld of both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. And he appears to be in trouble.

I missed the Clone Wars (tv series, right?). Never saw the third (final completed) film either.
Those TV shows were pretty funny because they personalized some of the clone troopers and you knew that they butchered the Jedi eventually. They also had these character growth arcs for teenage Jedi dudes and you knew they would shortly be either butchered or become evil genocidal cyborgs.

Also, Luke wasn’t born on tattooine.
No doubt. People are gullible.
I never did like that twist.
No, he came back for the white woman.
Lol!
It’s because about 12 years BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin, or Episode IV), the planet of Kamino (source of the clone army) rebelled against the empire. The clones loyal to the empire destroyed the cloning vats in the attack. Everyone else was killed.
Anakin Skywalker and his mom were slaves. From the chain, I assume that Princess Leia was enslaved by Jabba the Hut.
Hey, they came up with a black Vulcan on that one Star Trek series, so who knew?
Yep, according to "official" Star Wars lore, the corps of Imperial Stormtroopers are clones of the interstellar bounty hunter Bobba Fett, and it shows, as the markmanship level is identical...

If it wasn’t in any of the movies, it didn’t happen, IMO. Referring to books written years after the original films were made to embelish the overall story isn’t kosher.
The new animated series, which takes place in the era of Ep. IV has already debunked that. They are now volunteers.

On the trailer thread yesterday, somebody reposted a great tweet that went something like this:
The look on the black stormtrooper’s face was when he realized he was only the third black man in the history of the galaxy.
Or,
Stormtrooper just looked under his breastplate armor and realized he was wearing a red shirt...
I think he was disguised in a stormtrooper uniform. He looked like he was being chased. If you listen very carefully you could hear at least one and maybe more probe droids in the background.
