Theres concern this morning that a pregnant American corn snake is on the loose in Queensland, Australia, and a search is being mounted to find it before she gives birth.
Sunshine Coast snake catcher Ritchie Gilbert told Business Insider he was sent a number of photos from a local vet to help identify the snake on Wednesday ...
He said while the snake isnt venomous it does need to be located. Like rabbits or cane toads, introduced species can throw the natural environment off balance, causing problems for native wildlife and agriculture ...

Title had me thinking Obola!
More tax dollars going for some ones entertainment.
If it somehow could be made to feed on only other invasive species like rats and rabbits, it would be beneficial. But of course in this case it’s going to go straight for the koalas and other slow moving native species.
With all the poisonous things they have and they are worried about a corn snake?
It might just eat some of the mice they are having trouble with.
Not big enough!
” illegal American corn snake worth up to $25,000. “

Sounds like a business opportunity.
Same here.
This notion of pristine, permanent environmental stasis has no basis in reality. All their so-called “native” species very likely arrived from elsewhere at some point. They’ll adapt as the so-called “invasive” species will. They’re not saving anything other than a storybook tale they’re telling themselves due to leftists attempting to hobble them economically.
Aussies afraid of a non-venomous snake? Man, what happened Australia? You used to be cool.
Australia has long had a huge problem with rabbits, which have no predators in the country. If it gets established, the corn snake, a predator of rabbits, could help to solve this problem.
Human are part of the nature, so everything we do is pretty natural, scientifically speaking. That includes rerouting rivers, pumping chemicals into ground, exploding nukes, seeding clouds, razing forests, digging channels, and, of course, bringing “invasive” species.
Eventually, nature will sort itself out. Nature always wins. Humans will be gone in the next million years anyway.
A non-venomous snake in Australia? Yikes.
And what rough snake, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Queensland to be born?
You’d think the Aussies would ne happy to have a critter that wouldn’t kill you.
Yes, especially a snake that won’t kill you in 5 minutes
Well played, sir!
Be thankful Moochelle isn’t there and preggers.
Don’t expect morons to understand the problems invasive species cause.
They’ve got consensus on their side.
