A window washer was critically injured Friday morning when he plunged from a building in downtown San Francisco, falling 11 floors before smashing onto the roof of a moving car, authorities said.
The impact at California and Montgomery Streets caved in the roof, back window and trunk of a 2002 Toyota Camry, but the man was conscious when paramedics arrived.

I understand terminal velocity is reached after about ten feet which constitutes one storie. The dude was probably going at least a hundred mph. He’s very lucky to be alive.

OMG....we lived on the top 27th floor in downtown Seattle highrise and one time we had a new window washer, wet behind his ears and I saw feet dangling and kicking and the next thing I knew he JUMPED down onto our ITTY BITTY SKINNY balcony!!! Our balcony wasn;t 4 ft. wide!!!! After I let him in the apt., I asked him if he liked his new job......he said "NOT REALLY", and I SHARPLY ADVISED him to go look for a new job before he got himself killed!!!
I give anyone credit to do this job.

I understand terminal velocity is reached after about ten feet which constitutes one storie. The dude was probably going at least a hundred mph. Hes very lucky to be alive. Oh, no, not even close. You fall only 32 feet in the first second. . . which is about what one story actually is in a high rise. The fellow would be hitting ~22 miles per hour after one story. Terminal velocity of a human body lying flat is 100 times that at about 120 to 185 MPH. . . it's faster if he's falling feet or head first. You have to fall for 11-12 seconds or about 1150 feet to reach terminal velocity. . . Our faller may have just been approaching it when he went he encountered the Toyota.

The driver is calling Dunkin Donuts to say he's going to be late for work :-).
I can say that because I'm Indian too so it's not racist! :-)
To: ExpatCanuck
Actually, since it is San Fran he's probably calling Apple or Google to say he's going to be late for work.
I can say that because I'm in IT and Indian so it's not racist 😊

I thought of the 9/11 Towers. A lot crowded with parked cars and vans could have saved some.

So who pays for the Camry? If the car is insured for comprehensive, my guess is the car insurance company will negotiate (or sue, as needed) with the insurance company of the maintenance company (if it has one).
