In a surprise move CEO Donald Thompson of McDonalds Restaurants announced they had reached an agreement with the SEIU and would start paying its workers a Living Wage of $15.00 per hour the first of October. Mr. Thompson issued a press release stating, As a company we realize we have been negligent in paying our employees a real living wage for the last 60 years, so in the spirit of social well-being, we have decided to comply with the wishes of the White House and the SEIU.
The Service Employees International Union spokesman, Seymour Pecunia, said that he was very happy that McDonalds had agreed to their demands. He was also hopeful that McDonalds decision would lead to similar agreements with Burger King, Wendys, Hardees and Taco Bell. As the largest retail seller of fast food, the agreement will set a high bar for other fast-food chains to meet.
It is estimated the move will cost the company over 100 million dollars the first year. Much of the cost will be made up in higher food prices according to management sources. We have been working on new price guidelines for several months and think we have come up with a workable menu pricing guideline for our franchisees.

Satire? Or the “Rise of the Machines?”
Much of the cost will be made up in higher food prices
Of course! And how much more will SEIU collect in union dues? I’d love to know the salaries of the SEIU union thugs.
I added the satire keyword as the article linked clearly states it is written in satire.
“Much of the cost will be made up in higher food prices...”
They hope.
I will be going there less often.
Nowadays it’s hard to tell the real news apart from the satire.
The cost of eating at McDonalds is already skyrocketing. I don’t see this being a very bright move at this time. Good luck to them. They’re going to need lots of it. Unionized burger flippers and fries guys isn’t going to fly with a lot of Americans. Especially when the union is SEIU.
Get ready for the $8.00 Whopper
Higher prices, lower quality...introducing the new(progressive)America.
If this really happened, the ignorance of the liberals would be revealed. Because they would protest increasing the prices of everything McDonald’s sells if they had to pay a higher minimum wage. The liberals think that businesses have unlimited profit margins and unlimited money in the bank.
People like Hillary Clinton don’t think that businesses create jobs. Liberals just have no real knowledge of how business operates. And based on their ignorance, they try to tell the rest of us how to live. Go figure.
Semmens again.
Now he’s using an alias but I’m on to him.
I stopped eating there long ago. I got tired of cardboard buns and French fries, something that is supposed to pass for ‘meat’ and a whole host of other things.
I fear however that this will be a great discrimination against the minority community who will suffer under the added costs for their daily subsistence. My guess is that McDonalds will now be allowed to process EBT cards and the like to compensate. Or, maybe just go for the Gusto and have it subsidized by Obama’s Stash.
Forget the 8 bucks this story already is a “Whooper”.
Well, doesn’t bother me. Don’t eat there. Don’t like their food. The old quarter pounder used to be a good sandwich, but when it went down to the size of a morning egg macmuffin, and still called it a QP, I quit buying it. That was years and years ago. I rarely ever stop at burger shops any more. Small sandwich for higher and higher prices. Here in Alabama we have a hamburger place called Jack’s Hamburgers. All around the state and Mississippi I think. Jacks does a good morning breakfast meal, complete meal. But I have not been to Mikkie D’s, Burger Queen, etc. in years. Jacks, maybe Wendys, but not Mickies.
That’s the straight one.
The gay one will be $7
The Whopper is Burger King.
Satire.
Read the “story”. Satire and silly satire at that.
What tipped me off was the SEIU chief’s name in the article, Seymour Pecunia. I thought it was Trumka then I remembered “Pecunia” is Latin for Money.
