Yeah, it's clickbait, but some of the kitten pix are adorable.

Happy National Cat Day, everyone!

Fangs!

I’m seriesly thinking of getting a wee kitteh, but I’m afraid I need convincing that it’s the right thing at the right time. The pet deposit of $250 is the biggest hurdle, and I don’t want an older cat. I want a kitteh to lower my BP and give me lots of laughs!

It has been over 10 years since last I had a kitteh...tell me this is a good thing I’m contemplating.

I would beg you not to exclude older cats - they can be just as much funny goofballs as kittens. (Quick hug for my crew.) But yes, go for it!

Have a cat or 2. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. If you get two kittens, you can hear them run around and bump all night. :)

#16 reminds me of my Apple (aside from the cat in the pic not being an orange tabby). She loves to give head bonks when you hold her.

Yes, get a kitteh. Either a baby or an adult.

OMG Don’t wait any longer!!

Now is the time, now you are ready, now you will reap all the benefits of loving and serving a new kitten!!

We reluctantly agreed to provide a home for a cat about 19 months ago, CANNOT BELIEVE how much we have enjoyed and loved him!

In this complex, we are only allowed one pet of any species except birds and then we are allowed two.

I would seriesly consider an older cat, but as a widow on a fixed income, I can’t afford medical expenses for myself, let alone for an older cat that may develop health problems. I have no doubt that older cats are wonderfully funny and cute, but I have to consider all my circumstances and make the best choice with what I have to deal with.

The pet deposit is the biggest hurdle at the moment, and I’m not sure how long I have before it will be due and payable...maybe I can have a cat for 30 days before I need to report it. I have to make sure I haven’t overlooked anything, so if someone has suggestions, I’m open...

See post #11. As much as I have thought of this lately, I’m inclined to believe that now is truly “the time” to get a little kitteh...and train it for Viking Duty!

LOL! Thanks!

I am SO convinced, but now, I just need the deposit funds. The local shelter is giving kittens away (that time of year) so the choices are unlimited.

Can’t tell you what to do, but all three of my cats were adults. Two were maybe a year or 2 old, but one cat, a stray, was estimated by the vet to be at least 10 years old. She was sickly and starving when I found her scrounging around for scraps from a garbage can on the property next door. I took her in, got her shots, fed her and loved her. She went from skin and bones to a big fluffy lovable cat. She lived six years — brief I know, but had I left her outside, she would have died a lot sooner. She was well worth saving.

Cats will lower your blood pressure and make you laugh, no matter what their age.

If you have family or friends who might purchase gifts for you for holidays or birthdays, etc., you might suggest cat supplies or gift cards to where you would want to purchase food and litter.

On the deposit, perhaps they will let you pay it over several months, or yes, have the animal for some time before you need to report it. Tell them you are trying to decide whether to keep it or not?

You can make your own toys and/or bed for it with yarn or some soft material from the goodwill store. Maybe google for some ideas.

I have taken in two adult cats, one of which was blind and had been abused, so I know the age doesn’t matter. I’m afraid my own medical problems may preclude me from giving an older cat the quality of life it deserves.

I even had strays when I was a kid, so I’m no stranger to caring for cats. I want to give my best.

As for lowering the BP, that is one of the biggest reasons I want a kitteh...it has been 10 years and I can see the difference in my BP since then. And I LOVE kittehs...natural clowns, they are!

The finances are the big barrier, otherwise, I would have already had a kitteh.

Just do it!

Over time the kitteh will convince you that you did the right thing.

The idea of gift cards never occurred to me, so thanks! I can spend them on KITTEH STUFFS!

I will check with the office about the deposit, but I was under the impression that it was due and payable at the time of lease signing, or at the time the cat was obtained. The suggestion of deciding to keep it or not would definitely give me some leeway.

I have yarns in abundance, so toys and beds are no problem. I think I even have some fleece that can be “adapted” to fit the contours of a cat’s body!

Thanks for your input. It means a lot to me!
