The idea of gift cards never occurred to me, so thanks! I can spend them on KITTEH STUFFS!
I will check with the office about the deposit, but I was under the impression that it was due and payable at the time of lease signing, or at the time the cat was obtained. The suggestion of deciding to keep it or not would definitely give me some leeway.
I have yarns in abundance, so toys and beds are no problem. I think I even have some fleece that can be “adapted” to fit the contours of a cat’s body!

If the deposit is due at lease signing, maybe you can defer paying until the lease comes up again? Check your lease just to be sure you are not in violation.
