FULL TITLE: Ohio televangelist forced members to have vasectomies and abortions, told women to treat pregnancies as tumors and allowed children to be sexually abused
Televangelist Ernest Angley has been accused of running an Ohio church where men are forced to get vasectomies and women abortions, and where children were sexually abused.
Self-proclaimed prophet Angley has been described by some of 21 former members as a closeted-homosexual Jim Jones who's turned a blind eye to sexual abuse.
But the 93-year-old has defended the allegations, saying he is simply an instrument of God.
He told the Akron Beacon Journal: 'I'm not a homosexual. God wouldn't use a homosexual like he uses me. He calls me his prophet, and indeed I am,'
Angley it is said to have played an active role in encouraging male followers to undergo vasectomies, and also monitored the results.

I really think Jim and Tammy Bakker started out with very good intentions, then celebrity clouded their judgment. They have both suffered the consequences of their actions - it isn’t up to me to judge them. God has a way of chastising His children.
Why assume they are his children ? Why not just look at the fruit as the LORD Jesus Christ commanded ? Do not judge them. Judge their fruit. The judgment belongs to Messiah.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
If he’d been Catholic I’d been on his case ten times as hard, because he was suppose to know better!
Rap his knuckles? I would have beat his knuckles!
Hebrews 12:6 -
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Proverbs 3:12 - For whom the LORD loves he corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights.
And, I do think they started out with good intentions and did bear good fruit. You are free to believe what you want, and I’ll do the same.
While Hebrews 12:6 is true, it neither means everyone who claims to be a son (or daughter) is a son, not that everyone who is punished is a son. Matthew 7 is very strong. To ignore Jesus because we desire a favorite TV minister to be in heaven, or someone such as Luther, Calvin, or a bad pope, is fraught with peril. We can rely on the Jewish apostles (sans Judas who was removed) and Jewish prophets (mentioned in Bible) being there, along with blessed Mary and Joseph, and others mentioned favorably in the Scriptures. They are our witnesses right now. Good ratings and heavy makeup on TV is not a passport to the kingdom.
He was married, to a woman I think was called “Princess”. She died at least 20 years ago, and he actually had a telephone placed in her coffin.
No one said good ratings and heavy makeup is a passport into heaven. And, to be perfectly honest, we know very little about Joseph - other than he was engaged to and married Mary. Paul the Apostle was not Jewish - he was a Gentile. Other than that - your post makes very little sense. No one is ignoring Jesus - I was merely stating that I believe the Bakkers started out with good intentions, and yes, their ministry bore fruit. If you know the Scriptures at all, you’ll find that most all who God chose had feet of clay, only Jesus was perfect. David conspired to have Bethsheba’s husband murdered, he committed adultery with her, Moses killed a man with his bare hands, and the list goes on and on. But, God forgave and used these imperfect vessels. Even Peter was rebuked by the Lord on a couple of occasions.
Your comment "Paul the Apostle was not Jewish - he was a Gentile" is mistaken. Perhaps you mistyped or meant something else. Paul was a Jew. You are (in all probability) a Gentile.
. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
“I think you Catholics have enough problems without throwing stones at anyone else.”
Fewer than you protestants, so stop telling people to shut up.
“That really makes no sense at all.”
Yes it does.
What kind of argument is that? Are you 5 years old?
Shall we start a chain of “Is not!”, “Is too!”? Or do you care to actually back your statement up with an actual argument?
Where did I tell anyone to shut up. I made a statement to think twice before throwing stones at others. Catholics have their own problems just like any group or don’t you believe that? No group is perfect.
Yes, I agree. Their success clouded their vision. I watched them way back in the 70’s. I enjoyed the singing of the Camerons from Scotland.
I meant to say that Paul was the apostle chosen to preach to the Gentiles. And, no, I don’t believe the Bakkers were false prophets. I believe they got to loving their celebrity too much and forsook their first love. I’m now done with this discussion.
“Or do you care to actually back your statement up with an actual argument?”
Just hoping against hope that you would go back to the statement you said made no sense and take another look.
When you said I think you Catholics have enough problems without throwing stones at anyone else, the subtext and core of that is “shut up.”
Alright, I have. I stand by my statement.
Now, if you refuse to offer any actual argument, please stop spamming me with posts free of any actual content.
Jogged my memory. Yes, I remember when all that happened. My grandparents lived across the high level bridge and we heard a lot about what went on at the Cathedral. Rex was the talk of the town as he drove around in some fancy car that everyone recognized.
I’m just surprised that old hillbilly EA is still around! Good grief he is/was such a joke!
“Alright, I have. I stand by my statement.”
Sigh.
“stop spamming me”
I claim the privilege of contradicting you whenever you say something that is not true.
