Whether writing a movie, TV series, novel, or any other form of storytelling, one fact rises above all: endings are hard. The sentiment is proven on a yearly basis, as countless films deliver an intriguing premise, compelling action, or powerful messages, only to fumble with the closing act. Sometimes, the films final impact can be so poorly executed, it leaves audiences wondering whether the film that preceded it was even worth the trouble.

Guess what it's about?
I assume you're talking about the first Godfather movie, right? If so, in what way was the ending bad?
Yep. Sure is.
It determines whether you can be sucked in by nonsense and loudly proclaim with the rest of the imbeciles of the world: "The Emperor's Clothing is Soooooooo beautiful!"
How did you get that ending? It showed the Robbins character and the Morgan Freeman character meeting on the beach, happy to see each other and clearly planned some kind of fishing/boating business on the beach. :}
A GREAT ending in The Shawshank Redemption would have been if Tim Robbins was thrown off that roof by the guard. : )
______________
Why do you say that? He was innocent of the crime, made the evil prisoners of head of the prison pay for what they did.
He and the Morgan Freeman character ended up on the beach in Mexico happy. :]
this was an excellent movie- an all-time ‘feel good’ move with an excellent ending.
how about tv series?
big bang theory is going down in massive “I don’t care” flames this season.
2010 was even worse.
There was a different ending? Saw it in the theater with my dad but I was eleven years old....have the newer release now.
The original ending had Capt. Willard answering the Box Car call with his code ( I can’t remember what it was, and it called in B-52 strike, obliterating Kurtz’s whole camp.
I think Coppola changed the ending after the first run in theaters.
He was mocked in a SNL skit for not being able to make up his mind.
The strike put a decent end on the movie, ( and made up for what happened to Frenchy ;) ).
Lol I’m guessing your viewing palate doesn’t go far beyond Star Wars. To see what 2001 was getting at watch Antonioni and Resnais films. Say ‘Last Year At Marienbad’...
Hey, I ate it up.
I saw 2001 for the first time in a movie theater when I was 15, stoned out of my gourd on hashish (don't ask). When it got to the "Jupiter and Beyond" sequence, I thought I was having an out-of-body experience.
Thank God they didn't have IMAX 3D back then.
I might be the only one who thinks this, but I didn’t like the end of “Blazing Saddles”.
It insists upon itself.

Just because Tim Robbins in person is a nut
I know, I don’t like his politics either, but he’s a wonderful actor- as well as his ex, Susan Sarandon.
If you disliked so many stars of today and and thus the movies they made, you wouldn’t like most of them, because most of them are Libs or some kind of nutso.
Just going on the movie, the Shawshank Redemption was a wonderful ‘feel good’ movie, and like ‘Casa Blanca’, it’s ranked by a lot of the experts today on movies as a perfect move.
I’m not alone in my admiration for The Shawshank Redemption>
As for the "subtlety" of the "elliptical modernism" of 2001, go back and watch the film, leave the bong on the coffee table in the living room, and this time pay attention to the middle of that horrendous train wreck, where Kubrick actually serves up one of the most soporific "action sequences" in the history of modern film, spelled out dull thud after dull thud in excruciatingly awful detail. Then get back to me about how wonderfully minimalist the presentation is.

I’ve seen 2001 countless times. The middle section with HAL is one of the most engaging suspense/SF sequences of all time. It’s a flawless film and quite funny. Coppola has made great stuff. Those others are not at thAt level.
