An American doctor exposed to Ebola while in Sierra Leone has been flown to the United States.
The doctor was flown to a regional airport in the eastern state of Maryland Sunday and walked off the plane wearing a white protective suit.
The infectious disease chief at the NIH near Washington would not discuss details about the patient, but said that in general, an exposure to Ebola doesn't necessarily mean someone will become sick.

walked off the plane wearing a white protective suit. He is in isolation and the suit isolates him as he enters the treatment clinic.

Good, bad, or indifferent, there is some trickery going on about Ebola cases. I think we thought we had some effective antibodies for immunization shots if ever needed, but discovered they weren't so effective anymore.
With that situation, we have an urgent need to obtain verified survivors and those exposed who have not become symptomatic. There is no other plausible explanation for what is going on.

With any luck Ebola will be in the wild in the USA soon.

Maybe the plane, suit and other items are clean.

The NIH also said the physician will be in a special isolation unit out of "an abundance of caution." does not equate with mere "observation."

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...

This is a far cry from the people at Ft. Detrick putting people into the “Slammer” for 30 days for observation.
I hope the Army loaned him lots of hand cleaner.

My question is, why are we exposing an American doctor to Ebola in the US? If it’s simply for observation, might I suggest that we just observe the people who are already exposed?
Ugh! Was the editor asleep?

In the DFW area, about 10 minutes or so ago, the local ABC affiliate broke into network programming to announce a patient at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas was quarrantined and being tested for Ebola. Nuts!
