RGIII was wearing a t-shirt that said Know Jesus, Know Peace. NFL Uniform Inspector Tony McGee (former Skins DE) approached Griffin, Phillips tweeted. McGee told Griffin he couldnt wear the shirt because it wasnt a Nike product. Made him turn it inside out for the press conference.

Had that t-shirt said, “Islam is the Light,” there’d be nary a peep of protest.
Nike for Jesus T-shirt needed
How insensitive, harassing, and intimidating to exhibit such a message publicly!
I wonder if the state media and the federal bureaucrat class is just so afraid of having their heads lopped off . . is that the reason everything about "not" Islam is so unoffensive to them?
As evidence of that spot-on analysis, look at how Tim Tebow was drummed out of the league. In contrast, the vile sodomite thug Michael Sam was forced on the owners by Goodell, who is also a muzzie enabler.
Has RGtre jumped the shark yet?
or, are there still believers?
While I think it is idiotic, the NFL has cracked down on press conference clothing before (and in-game clothing many times) & it had nothing to do with religion.
The NFL just needs to die a painfully slow death.
They’ve been glorifying the ghetto culture way too long, and paying their “players” way more money than they’d be really worth in 10 lifetimes.
Their treatment of Kurt Warner was bad enough back then, but what Tebow went through (and probably RGIII soon) was atrocious.
I sorry, but I disagree.
If as ScottinVA posted if he would have had on a ‘Allah is the light’ shirt I don’t think for one moment a thing would have been said.
NFL’s War on Jesus.
Agree. This is a simple issue of contractual obligations between Nike, the NFL and the NFLPA. Nothing more, nothing less.
if they don’t want a player to acknowledge their Christianity...
then i guess they aren’t trying to target the Christian market.
stop watching anything they broadcast and never buy anything they sell
You can disagree but you're still incorrect.
RG III has been fined twice before for wearing unauthorized clothing - 1) $10K for wearing "Operation Patience" (re: his recovery from knee injury) shirt during warm-ups & 2) $10K for wearing Adidas gear during a press conference.
Also:
* Wes Welker fined $10K for wearing an unauthorized hat during a post-game press conference.
* Alex Smith threatened with $15K fine for wearing a SF Giants hat.
* Brian Urlacher fined $100K(!) for wearing unauthorized hat on Super Bowl media day.
Like to see someone pull a Jim McMahon and have someone wear a “Goodell” headband.
The National Football League, an exclusive organization which makes it possible for a select few with extraordinary talents to show their stuff, is becoming and has become a weak entity. If the NFL doesn’t stand up to the insanity it is submitting to then it will become a flag football league, and I’ll be rolling the floor from laughter that this once great and powerful sport has become powder puff. Why not open the NFL up to women? Would only be fair. The Great OZ has spoken.
I’m just gonna go ahead and guess that if any of you owned a company that paid millions and millions of dollars for NFL sponsorship you’de be pretty strict about who wore what. And you’d be well within your rights.
You can post all the infractions you wish, but I still say that if he would have had on a Allah is the light shirt not a thing would have been said.
I would like the NFL to be taxed.
It is no longer a non-profit organization.
I was in New Orleans a few weeks before SB XX on an unrelated business trip. Those headbands were ubiquitous in the Quarter. Yep, I still have mine from three decades ago.
