Several people in my area have noted that their pets are acting weird. The behavior usually amounts to staring out windows and doors whining and shivering and hiding under tables and other furniture etc. .
Or if they are outside they badly want inside even though they never do much any other time.
They also keep tails tucked and sort of slink around like they are in distress.
This is not one or two people but my count has over 20 different households within a ten mile radius that have pets acting in the same way for about 3 days now.
My dog can not seem to settle down and wants to be as close as he can get to me and the Missus. Some thought it is the festival in town but it just set up Yesterday and the behavior has been going on longer than that. And we had no such behavior last year reported.
We are all at a loss and the local vet has no idea but he tells us dogs and cats can sense stuff humans can't.
Muzzies active in Ohio...
exposure to electromagnetic field of the ultralow intensity can cause changes in animal behavior.
Yeah.
We have a 400 lb. bear living in the woods behind our house.
Our dog “goes off” when he smells a bear.
We walk him on a leash (vs. just letting him out the door) for about three weeks after he indicates the presence of a bear.
We’ve all had “up close & personal” contact with Mr. Bear.
He ain’t Yogi.
He means business.
Our daughter JUST let us know that her tabby (formerly one of ours) has been looking up at her ceilings “spacey” over the last 2 days ... Western NY here.
More tragic was that we had called her to let her know that my wife’s cousin’s daughter (K’s 2nd cousin) recently took her own life . The gal was in her 30’s with a history of depression & medication; regrettably, we hadn’t been in touch with the family for many years.
So who knows what these animals really can sense ...
Am south of you by four or more states. Happening in this local also.
Did you change his food recently?
Any new electronic devices emitting high frequency added to your living quarters lately?
Has he had a blood test lately? Check for thyroid levels, etc..
Any new wild critters running around outside recently?
As stated, could be Earth tremors, house settling, etc..
Could be hormonal change due to old age?? Good luck!
Put a tempting piece of food on a small plate in the middle of the room then leave the room unoccupied (without the dog too).. If the food is gone when you come back you might have a critter in the house!
In Maryland we just had a serious thunderstorm roll through. Our Corgi was behind my feet shaking like a leaf. She HATES thunderstorms!
Realistically, you need to look out to a fifty to one hundred year time span even for the current year.
The New Madrid fault is due to release in another word shattering earthquake like 1811-1812 any year now. The last one in 1811-1812 is the strongest recorded earthquake in the history of North America. The Ohio River and other major rivers exist in their locations because they formed in the low spots where major and minor fault lines exist in the Earth’s crust. So, anytime you are located near a significant sized river, look for known and unknown faults capable of generating earthquakes.
I’m wondering whether or not your dogs have sensed changes in the Earth’s electromagnetic fields as a consequence of the current Solar Storms?
Southern Ohio... any mining or fracking going on there?
Bears and mountain lions send my dogs on alert. That and the silly Bernese LOVES other animals.
My cat started acting weird after I volunteered her for the ALS challenge.
OFFICIAL CHICKENSOUP POST OF THE DAY!!
TA DA!
I know that a local cable tech said they have had some issues due to solar activity. Nothing real bad but it is causing some minor problems, at least he is claiming such...
My wife’s mood swings make my dog hide.

OFFICIAL CHICKENSOUP POST OF THE DAY FOR TOMORROW
TA DA!
I think there will be gold to mine in this here thread.
For that long a time?
I have heard of pet dogs acting up in that manner in advance of earthquakes, due to weather changes, and because predators like coyotes or a bear have moved into the area.
Where in Ohio are you? Are you over old coal mine shafts?
New Madrid runs through Missouri not the gulf
The New Madrid fault is in Missouri. It is capable of generating an earthquake bigger than 8.0 on the Richter scale. If that fault springs to life, the people of Ohio would most definitely be adversely affected.
God help us all if that fault line comes to life. Like America doesn’t have enough problems.
My dog shivered at the distant sound of thunder (and I’m not talking the Pink Floyd album).
