Most of us probably don't watch as many cartoons as when were kids, but there's a few that we still love.
What is your favorite cartoon(s) of all time?
The first few seasons of SpongeBob were great, the newer ones are not nearly as good.
My favorites:
Where SpongeBob tries desperately to find out what Patrick has in his “Secret Box”.
The Sailor Mouth episode with the “sentence enhancers.”
The first time he takes his driving test with Mrs. Puff. (Oh SpongeBob, Why?)
Any episode featuring Plankton.
Any episode with Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy.
"Dirty deeds done dirt cheap. Holidays, Sundays and special rates."
Jonny Quest. The music rocked and bad guys actually died! (all with the requisite “AAIEEEE!”)
Tarzan - 70s version (This is my domain and I protect those who come here, for I am Tarzan, lord of the Jungle!)
I still have my stuffed toy Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog. It is probably a rare collector’s item. As I recall, Manfred’s main talent was going to sleep.
I don’t remember the name (I’m sure some FReeper does though which is why I’m posting this; in hopes of getting a response):
It was about the earth in the future where a large meteor passed between the earth and the moon splitting the moon in half and causing huge tsunamis to flood the whole world destroying all civilization. The series was about this group of people with magical powers who fought “the bad guys” (I don’t even remember who they were or fighting for anymore).
Anyway I found it fascinating as a kid in the late 70’s early 80’s because it seemed so fantastical. This was wayy before the whole 2012 hype or anything like that so I thought of this cartoon at that time and thought the whole hype for it was funny for that reason. It seemed funny to me to get all hyped up about what amounted to a cartoon fantasy to me.
I’ve been trying to remember its name ever since.
Agreed on Starblazers. Altho it was a very much Americanized (thanks to creative editing and dubbing) version of the superior Space Battleship Yamato.
You know, they did a live action movie of Yamato a few years back? Pacing was off, if I hadn’t grown up with Starblazers as a kid I would have been somewhat lost. And I didn’t like the ending (which I won’t spoil).
There’s ALSO a rebooted anime series that came out a couple years back. All 26 eps are out on the net, and available via streaming. I cant remember the link tho. MUCH improved from the original in terms of both the quality of the animation and the storyline.
But thats my childhood. For my kids the top cartoons are Avatar, Phineas & Ferb and Kim Possible.
Thundaar the Barbarian. Hannah Barbarra cartoon.
Real Soviet Cartoon (I remember these from my Russian class)
Nu Pogodi! (Just you wait!)

“The Fleischer Popeyes were fantastic”
Don’t know what Fleischer Popeyes are, but real old Popeyes where Popeye and Bluto mumbled half their lines were the best cartoons ever.
My kids laugh their heads off watching them on youtube, especially the one where Popeye takes Olive’s baby to the zoo.
Not necessarily in order of appeal.
Phineas and Ferb
Futurama
The Simpsons
Rocky and Friends
Deputy Dog
Wacky Races
(Does CGI count?)
Penguins of Madagascar
Ever watch Gravity Falls? That show is an onion and I don’t mean that it is smelly. It’s got more layers than the strata of the Grand Canyon!
great cartoon and story lines.
Dexter’s Lab.
Especially “Labretto”
Oh, Dear Brother
What have you got there?
Nothing...Nothing.....You only see air.
Don’t be silly, I love you very much *CRASH* I guess I shouldn’t touch!
Thank you! I can now die fulfilled. Haha
Real Name: Boris Badenov
Sex: Male
Occupation: No-Goodnik
Home: Poyysylvania
Education: Degree at U.S.C. (The University of Safe-Cracking)
Tag Line: Must capture moose and squirrel.
Biography: Most foreign agents use their mind, physical strength, and agility to accomplish their missions. Boris uses explosives....lots of them. He and his accomplice, Natasha Fatale, were sent to America by the ruthless dictator Fearless Leader. Their mission is to usually steal something very valuable in order to bring it back to their homeland. Unfortunately for him, Boris is always foiled at the last minute, partly due to his involvement with a certain moose and squirrel, but mostly because of his ego.
I used to say that to the kids all the time when we played hide and seek.
I will have to check that out.
My kids are so busy watching their ipads they do not watch much tv. They like funny youtube videos. I have to monitor what they are doing with those things though.
Looney Toons and Ren & Stimpy.
