Apparently, from what I read, her mother decided to tell her she was black or part black, whatever, when she was about to leave home for college.

“I always heard whispers about Dinah Shore.”
Oh yes, I’ve heard that too.
But who is Dickey Lee?
Geez, I don’t even know the old time celebrities!

Why is it even an issue? Music performance and acting are areas where blacks do really well.
Can't get roles? Well, ask super-liberal Hollywood why they so rarely put blacks in leading roles.

Quincy Jones is her father, which I guess is pretty cool. I wikied her, she’s really multi-talented and went to HAHVARD and everything.

While her bio claims she had a black grandfather, there seems to be no real proof of it. I guess I’d go back into the census records.

In the revised edition of Trivial Pursuit, I would lose on this question. I don’t spend enough time in my dentist office reading People magazine either.

One of the more unusual ones I heard when I was a teenager was someone telling me Dickey Lees father was black. Are you referring to the recording star?

"I was born a poor black child." You and Navin R. Johnson. In the original routine, he heard his first Mantovani record, and that's when he decided to become white.

I trace my heritage back to Adam and Eve too. Not from “Lucy Australopithecus afarensis” of the African Rift.
