I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.

There will not be panic worldwide...
They will simply isolate Africa in a very matter of fact way....and we will be reading about it for years to come.
It’s impractical to vaccinate for it given that it’s in the ‘wild’ there. You will never control for that until you know precisely where and when it transfers to humans.
At just $50/shot (which given other immunizations effectiveness profiles will wear off in 5-10 years) it would cost $50B to immunize Africa. For just one strain of one particular hemorrhagic fever. And you’d have to return to every single village to vaccinate every single baby born subsequently.
It has also drifted, genetically, since it was discovered in ‘76. And could very easily drift out of your immunization antigen protocol at any time.
Vaccines are picky creatures that prefer specific temperature conditions as well. Difficult to maintain those in the African bush.
Better to develop small molecules that are available in pill form to treat the few thousand that might happen early on in an outbreak. Much cheaper too, long term.
That particular small molecule has been shown to totally arrest symptomatic ebola analogue in mice. It’s already being tested in humans for other ailments. And yet we have heard nothing about it.

The fact still remains, that the Flu alone, kills more Africans annually. Not to mention the dozens of other uncontrolled diseases.
Gives me reason to perhaps understand better why people left Africa to colonize the rest of the earth, in spite of the risks.
I have no emotional connection or opinion. To me it just is what it is. My opinions are clinical. As are my observations.
I treat this the same way I treat Fergusson, with no emotional attachment or any fears, which are emotionally based by their very nature.

Liberia is the size of the State of Tennessee.
It is not surprising that any of these African states can wall off some small portion and call it disease free. Once this thing got out of the bush, it had to spread to the entire community that it attacked. just as it did when in the bush.
The only difference here is that it is no longer in the bush.
In order to burn out, it has to consume all it’s food.
This is why I differ with WHO’s statement that it is out of control.

I have been looking at his Facebook page and his wife’s two pages. No photos of him with her or with his girls. I may have missed one. But I do find it curious. And I had a different picture in my head of what he looked like. Maybe I have the wrong guy. Maybe not.
South Africa is pretty health conscious. I recently did a safari in Zambia and had to route my travel through Amsterdam instead of S.A. because I didn't do a Yellow Fever vaccine (it's contra-indicated for those of us 60 or older... too risky) and S.A. won't let you go through their country without it (if you're coming from other African countries).
So, I'm not surprised at all that they want to prevent Ebola sufferers from wandering around in their airports and country.
I found a pic of him with his 2 girls and wife on a swing on what looks to be a front porch in what is almost surely the American midwest somewhere (based on trees and house styles of other homes on the street).
Given the rage level of Nigerians about this she (the wife) may have taken them all down.
I have seen posts on Nigerian forums of individuals wanting to even desecrate his ashes for bringing it there. She may be in hiding now.
